I thought Cav looked really sharp in his first couple of games this season but in the last two games I think he has been quite poor, regularly giving the ball away.

I personally don’t think our lack of goals is about lack of composure or even missing chances. We had 25 attempts on goal at Brighton but I wouldn’t call any of them easy chances to score. Doherty in the first half probably had the easiest chance but rather than knock him for shooting inches wide, I would praise him for the brilliant play to get into the position

I think the goals will come, and I don’t think we would be dominating games and being as high in the table if our front three were playing poorly

One small change I would like to see is in Jota’s position. He is playing on the left and like Costa, Traore and Cavaleiro is picking the ball up in midfield or wide and attacking the channels or dead ball line. In the early part of last season he was playing right behind Bonatini and regularly giving us two players in the opponents area. It made us a little lop sided because we had nobody wide on the left. But it worked and that was when Jota was getting his goals

A fee of €18m has finally been agreed for Rui Patricio

Wolves have agreed a fee for Rui Patricio of €18m (£16m). This, I think, makes him our second most expensive signing after Adama Traore (£18m). So far I would say that money is paying off. Hope Traore will soon justify his fee. Early days.

Spurs have made 10 changes to their starting line up for their game against West Ham in the Carabao Cup tonight but Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen both return to the team after injuries. Guess it will be those two and most of the team that lost to Man City on Monday that we will see at Molineux on Saturday

It’s a good fee for Patricio. If we can get the best out of Traore he certainly could be a star with his pace, trickery and strength. Nuno and his coaches have improved a number of players since they have been at the club so we need to be patient with Traore and Dendoncker

Can’t remember how much we paid for Neves

posted on 31/10/18

Transfer Markt have him costing us 16.11m quid, but they also value him now at 36m.

I would be disappointed if we sold Neves for less than double £36m

Jota just needs a few games out as his form has been poor and as Tam says he confidence is now low and it sends a good message to others when a player has to fight for his place, Traore or Cav deserve a start ahead of him currently, simple as that.

Would start Cav personally as he is better than Traore though he is a little behind fitness wise.

I think they might be pushing them in the Lynch Gate too.

I think Saturdays game will suite us, because Spurs won't be worrying about how we play, unlike lesser sides. That might just be enough to beat them with our counter attacking style.
Nuno will more than likely stick to his favoured 3-4-3, But I'd like him to try 3-5-2, with two out and out strikers.

Which ever way he plans it, I shall be sitting on the porch with a libation or two.

Oh happy days.

Wolves are not conceding many goals but aren't scoring enough.

I am struggling to see how reducing the number of forwards from 3 to 2, and then bringing in a defensive midfield player, is therefore a constructive change

posted on 1/11/18

Difficult also to see how not playing two forwards who don't score or assist is not constructive

Very much doubt there will be any change in the formation. Only time Ive seen that under Nuno was the last 10 minutes or so against Watford when we piled everyone forward in search of a goal. I think it will be business as usual with the aforementioned left side forward role up for grabs between Cav, Jota & Traore.

Yeah there's plenty of opinions about who the front three should be, but it would be a surprise if the shape of the team was changed

Danny Rose and Jan Vertonghen are ruled out of Spurs team for Saturday with injury and Eric Dier picked up a thigh injury against West Ham last night and is doubtful

Nuno will stick with his methods, although I would hope he can adjust as and when required. This season will show us Nuno's abilities in what is the top test. He hasn't done too badly so far.

posted on 1/11/18

The biggest test will be when injuries and suspensions start kicking in because although we have cover in most positions, the players coming in might not be as reliable as the first choices

posted on 2/11/18

We certainly found that last season when Neves was suspended. Our record with injuries has been remarkable.... in a good way for a pleasant change, but players will need to be replaced at some point.

And related to this point, although not scared by the Spurs performance v City, the strength of their second string that beat West ham last night was quite frightening. Son would start every week for us and Llorente might well push Jiminez for Second choice.

A change of formation would be 4-2-3-1 for me with three of our four out and out attackers with Jimenez ahead of them and lose a central defender or wing back depending on the best back four set.

Think Jonny is a better defender than Doc so maybe Doc the one i would miss out though i guess you could take out Bennett or Coady and keep Doc and Jonny which would probably leave us fragile but we would be chasing a game with this formation anyway so needs must.
