Having Sanchez makes you think we should have kept Di Maria as he can give it away for fun.

Sanchez still our worst attacker in conversion rate and considering how he is used to giving the ball away to create chances to only have 2 assists isn't much.

It was refreshing to have someone up top who could trap a ball, bring others into play, drift around and make an assist

Saying he was our best player yesterday is overstating his performance. But he brought more to the position than Lukaku. I still would prefer Rashford there over him as I think if Rashford is allowed, he'll come good just as Martial has.

I have advocated for Sanchez to be used as a 9, but it is one performance and I'm not going to say this is proof he'll do well there.

Alexis should definity start up top against Juve imo. I'd be dissapointed to see Rom back in the mix, that would be unfair and poor management

I think that the Juve defence would relish playing against Lukaku to be fair. For all his size, he isn't very physical and he isn't very clever either. Best chance of opening them up is with pace and movement.

Whoever plays up front against Juventus needs help

In the last game Lukaku was left completely alone against both Chiellini and Bonucci. This time we need to add more men to the attack

Yep, I don't think Lukaku (or anyone in the squad) is the type of striker that can play up top on his own against that quality of defender. Nor is their any point in going long. We need to keep the ball on the floor and when we have the ball, commit men forwards in numbers. With someone like Kane, you might be able to play how Jose tried to play in the first game, but Lukaku just doesn't have that hold up play in his locker - certainly not against defenders of that quality.

Tbf Kane would have been screwed against those two on his own

Like when he played up top on his own vs Juve last season scored and was one of the best players on the night?

Tbf Bonucci wasn't at Juve last season but yes Kane still would have put up a much better shiw than Lukaku. It was one of the most predictable things in football thaf they would completely dominate Lukaku

He did play up top on his own. But had players like Alli and Erisksen playing close to him offering support

Lukaku had miles between him and an Lukaku support at all in that first half

But you knew that didn’t ya?

You could have just said Jose got his tactics wrong, would have been a lot quicker.

Don't recall much of the Spurs Juve game. But I remember when Spurs went away to Madrid last year, and Kane was very isolated. What we saw though was a masterclass in hold up play from him. There is a very clear gulf in class between the 2.

I disagree Robb. The problem with Lukaku is that he doesn't have the touch or intelligence to make the ball stick up top whilst support gets to him. Kane is far superior in that area. The result is that Lukaku looks isolated, which he is to come extent. However, he makes it look worse than it is because he can't control the ball.

Yeah Spurs were quite wasteful against Juventus. I don't think Juventus are a special side but know how to get the job done as in they are masters at winning ugly.

Its astonishing that the 5ft 7in Sanchez can hold the ball up better than 6ft 3in Lukaku. Lukaku is incapable of using his body effectively to hold off defenders. This is coupled with the fact that he cant control a football.

Would like to see Sanchez given a shot up top more often.

Usually when service excuse is getting rolled out is the clear sign that a players just rubbish.

Lukaku may not be in the most attacking set up but neither were Ibra, Costa, Eto'o under Jose.

Looks like most are sold on the idea of replacing Lukaku after only 2 games without him

A shame but a very predictable scenario. Fans have been crying out for movement since he signed.
