Yes but Gazza chased the money and broke a Gentleman's agreement with Fergie.

He didn't understand that as Sir Matt one said, you don't need to chase the money when you sign for United, the money will eventually chase you.

So its all his own fault.

As an Irishman I feel Gazza is romanticised by the English. A slightly better Ross Barkley but worse at tackling.

Don't recall us being linked with Del Piero but for me that signing would have elevated both parties.
Ideal replacement for Cantona, deadly in the box, perfect link between midfield and attack which we never really replaced despite having some great poachers at the time. That signing would have brought another CL or two.

Ronaldinho would never have become the phenomenon he was at Utd.

I think Gazza would have destroyed himself whether he joined or not.
