What's going on with Pereira?

feel mourinho chucked him in at the start of the season just so he could turn around later and say he gave him a chance, if he was 7 years older he would be one of the 1st names on the team sheet, probably

How tall is he?

With the injuries, I don't think he had much of a chance other than to play him. And as I said, he did have a good pre-season. I don't think that he has done much wrong in a United shirt and for me looks our most technically gifted midfielder on the ball, with the exception of Mata. He is the kind of player that can link the defence to attack without lumping it, as he is more than happy to take the ball in tight spaces and has the ability to make space and ensure we retain possession. I just feel that Jose is missing a trick with him and that we will regret losing him if he does indeed move on this summer.

Jose Mourinho happened to Pereira, his exclusion proves that his decision to go to Valencia was totally justified.

Pereira actually hasn’t put a foot wrong this season, he also played brilliantly against Leicester.

A midfield of Herrera, Pereira and Pogba would be seriously good. I rate him above Fred as well, he deserves a chance to play.

---------------

5ft 10". But Fred is only 5ft 7" and Jose signed him and has started him in 7 games.

I actually remember Mourinho complaining he could have made more simple passes after the Brighton game if I’m not mistaken 🤔

I think he passed it forwards to much....

im sure as well perreira would have been given assurances about 1st team chances in pre season, I mean which 23 year wants to waste a year of his career when the year before he was playing pretty regularly

That is kind of where I am at too. I'd love to see Herrera and Pereira have a few games together, as I think they would link well together. Something like that we be interesting to see:

.............Rashford
Martial.................Sanchez
.............Pogba
.....Pereira
....................Herrera
Shaw...Smalling..Lindelof...Dalot
..............De Gea

He must be frustrated as hell right now. He has had a couple of decent loan spells, worked his way though the Brazilian youth teams and managed to get his debut for the seniors back in August - the first non-Brazilian born player to do so for 100 years! He must have been looking forwards to this season and having a real crack at making himself a regular first team player. And so far it has been almost completely wasted.

Mourinho: “Pereira? He’s playing okay, in the first match he was okay, and today too. I think he has to play even more simple than what he’s doing, but he has the personality to want the ball. I’m happy.”

Just to give everybody about this “ok” performance against Leicester...

He made four clearances, three tackles (only Darmian made more), three interceptions (most in the team), a blocked shot, and 91 percent passing accuracy, including six accurate long balls.

It’s so sad to see such talent wasted, it’s the Martial situation all over again.

Yep. The problem is, I don't think that Pereria will hang around for Jose to see the error of his ways. Irrespective of the results and performances, I really want Jose gone as I think that he doesn't trust in youth enough and fear that we will lose some of our talented young players.

Why delete that? It’s true.

In pre season Jose set a challenge out to the youngsters to prove they were worth a place in the team, or words to that effect.

Not one player did, Pereira included. He just didn't do enough to suggest he should be a starter for us.

Now that doesn't mean to say I don't rate him, but we all know Jose has a boner for Matic, and until his Nobb goes soft we are not going to see the lad get any chances.

Jose has had chances to play him in games or at least have him on the bench, but has chose not to.

Like most on here I agree Jose is not good for our youngsters.

Yup Elvis, he’ll be long gone before Jose realises what he had.

Because it adds nothing to the debate and it isn't true. Go away, the adults are talking.

It is true. The longer a player isn’t in the team the better he gets in the mind of many. Seen it with many players over the years and it happens with loads of out current squad.

I like Pereira but I don’t think he’s anywhere near as good as some as our fans make out. He’s a tidy player with a bit of skill, and Mourinho should be giving him more chances, but this talk that he should be a firt team player just because he had a decent game against Leicester is hyperbole.

I know some fans don’t like to hear it because he’s an academy player but it is what it is.

I disagree with that completely VC. He was one of our best players during pre-season for me and I think that most United fans had that same opinion. I also don't think that he has done anything wrong this season really.

im sorry but with the squad we took pre season there was very little chance of anyone looking good that's basically the reason mourinho said that, how are you supposed to look consistently good when playing with 2nd/3rd string players

No-one is saying that he should be a first team player based on one game though are they? This is exactly why I deleted your post. Because you are going to derail a perfectly good thread by misrepresenting what posters have said and talking rubbish.

But he did find a way VC. He was one of our best players. I'd say that him and Sanchez were the best 2.

Whilst I agree that Dazza does have a penchant for waffle and talking a load of bollox, I do agree with him here that I think he is not as good as some of our fans think.

I would love to be proved wrong.
