Have the wheels come off?

I don't want this season to be one where we are satisfied that we accumulated enough points to finish 15th or 16th.

I think its difficult to say the wheels have come off when in the previous game we deserved to win at Arsenal. And there have only been two games in the 13 we have played so far when we have been outplayed. But we certainly were on Sunday.

Credit to Huddersfield on the day and the fact that our two poor performances have come on the back of an international break may be an excuse. But it was worrying how we failed to cope with having a team in our face and closing us down all over the pitch. When rushed our passing was so poor and many of our players had their worst 90 minutes of the season.

Barring injuries Nuno has stayed loyal to the same players so far but now is the time when we need some fresh faces to come in and show what they can do. The likes of Gibbs White, Traore and Dendoncker need to be given a chance from the start. And although Jota has not scored so far, after getting two for the Portugese U21s he needs to come back in because he is our most likely player to find the net regularly if he can just get one to get going.

Do worry about the wing back positions because Doherty was strangely out of touch and mobility on Sunday and I didn't think Vinagre took his chance on the other side. And ahead of them Cavaleiro again showed how prone he is to giving the ball away, and Costa did next to nothing.

If nothing else the game showed there is still some work to do in the transfer windows, and Nuno now for the first time needs to show he can get more out of the players that have been doing so well for him.

Wouldn't say the wheels have come off, Wulfrunn, more like a slow puncture in a wheel or two.

The problem I see is twofold. A) We tend play better against the top sides because we are the underdogs and therefore teams don't necessarily close us down and try and shut out our midfield, as they are more confident of beating us. Hence we've surprised the top teams, even Spurs. B) We have to sort out our lack of scoring. Whether it's giving players like Traore a start ( which we have and didn't really work), or buy a top class striker at the expense of Jimenez, who to be fair, has been doing well.

This is why Nuno has to sort it out and soon, or we may well end up sliding down the table and start losing our quality players in January who may want to play for a more consistent team home or abroad.

I'm still confident we will not go down, but swapping like for like players and not having an alternative system may well be a thorn in Nuno's side.

Having said all that, we are after all Wolves and should be used to a roller coaster ride, no matter whose at the helm.

to me the root problem is our weakness up front.
because of that the players have lost confidence that they can score, even when we create chance after chance and have 20 or 30 shots a game

B. We are really not as good as most of us (myself included) thought we were.

The entire car has gone off a cliff. I don't think we'll get another 16 points all season and not a single point in December. That's after Cardiff tonk us.

Nuno is showing just why Valencia fans hounded him out of their club. He is unyielding and one dimensional.

Reminds me increasingly of that other grossly overrated Portuguese manager.

Anybody who’s ever been involved in football, will know that yesterday, it was the players who let Nuno down. They are all capable of better application at the very least.

It’s also a byproduct of have a very young team, on a plus side they are young enough to recover very quickly, expect a much better performance against Cardiff......but that’s not to say we’ll win

Have to say that first line had me genuinely laughing out loud

I think its A C D.
I will not get too down about Sunday, as I have posted before, anyone can beat anyone on their day. Uddersfield caught us on our worst day of the season and they took advantage.
The very lenient ref allowed them to bully us all through the game and we could not cope.
Had the over the line goal been given I have no doubt that we would have at least got a draw
Saying that Udders deserved their win.
I would expect us to play much better on Friday and not let the taffs bully us .

PS. P**s off UH.
( he infuriates me with his pathetic comments.)

The main worry is the lack of goals, but on Sunday there was a corresponding lack of chances, which hasn't generally been the case.

Bolton and Burton notwithstanding, we weren't prolific goalscorers last season and I could see this being an issue against better coaches and better defences this season.

But the main reason we lost on Sunday was sloppy, complacent play. A painful lesson, lets hope its sunk in.
