How much more can Sarri get

We have seen them play a faster passing game earlier in the season compared to what we've witnessed over the last few weeks, so I do think they're capable of it.

Man City this weekend is a worrying prospect though. I'm resigning myself to the fact we won't pick any points up so any thing we do get will be a pleasant suprise..

I think to give them anything to think about at all we need to play Cheeky, I don't think Kovacic or Barkley will pose them any problems in the final 3rd - Ruben just might!

If only Sarri focused on the squad (minus Cahill, Drinkwater & Moses), instead of a select few. Rotation has been nothing short of underwhelming.
The scope for huge improvement is very possible if Sarri cares to actually use/rotate past the same 13-14 players (not making the most out of the squad resources, especially the sprightly young players ready to make an impact/spread their wings). Flexibility.

I'm in no doubt that the overuse of those same players has contributed to gradual slower tempo, less intensity, tired minds, slower passing, overthinking etc unnecessarily excessive minutes.
Loftus-Cheek the freshest player starting to come to the fore is no coincidence, start trusting the younger players and will reap the rewards/pay dividends in medium to long-term.

Likes of Ampadu, Christensen, Emerson, Hudson-Odoi, Loftus-Cheek...no viable/logical reason why they shouldn't be playing more to improve/excel in the system, they all have the required talent level as a basis to make it work in his desired playing style.

City match won't be the litmus test, that's just one game in isolation (which weren't not expected to fare well in anyway).
This month as a whole will be the litmus test, as to how competent Sarri is with full squad rotation and managing to deliver/extract higher performance.

I think there's a lot more to come from this squad, it'll just take time

Agree, need a full season before judging

The first team bar Kepa, Pedro and Willian have been playing once a week with the occasional midweek jaunt, in effect it's no real difference to Conte's first season dus far for most players (ala playing once a week mainly).

If they are tired playing once a week we are screwed in the business end regardless of how much or little rotation Sarri does.

Out of the seven midweek games we have had so far i think the first choice back four have appeared twice each likewise Jorginho, Kante three times( once of the bench) Hazard three times (two of which of the bench) while Kova/Barks and Morata/Giroud are being rotated accordingly.

No one has really played any excessive minutes.

Jorginho, Willian, Luiz, Alonso, Azpi have played excessive minutes to my mind. Kovacic to an extent in Europa & LC (when Ampadu could have easily played).

That's reflected by the zero minutes Ampadu, Christensen, Emerson, Hudson-Odoi have got in the league.
Fabregas 48 minutes, Zap 17 minutes, Loftus-Cheek 117 minutes.

The disparity in minutes is bad, shouldn't be like that.

From what we've seen so far I believe the only first team regular whose going to struggle to adapt is Willian, and that's only on account of his age. Aside from the obvious names like Cahill, Drinkwater & Moses, and out of form players like Morata, there's still plenty of time to adjust.

Sarri's biggest coaching challenge the reminder of the season is Kante. Needs to get him to a point where he's in the team, playing his football, on merit.

Sarri can win Premiership and Champions League with Chelsea with a bit of luck and two or three good signings.

He's got to be playing the likes of RLC from the start more...brings something different in midfield than Kante Kov & Jorg

Hazard needs to taking more games by the scruff of the neck too...been peripheral of late

Keep Morata as impact sub...waste of space form the start

Difficult for Hazard to do that, he has 3 people on him every time he receives the ball because teams have realised there's not much threat from any other players in our team.

The majority of the time he got the ball vs Fulham the defenders were so tight on him and ended up fouling him to stop his flow.

Both Morata and Giroud are pretty useless, I would have thought Giroud has a better record from the bench

Biggish

I do think he needs a couple of new players. What I wouldn’t give to have a 25 year old Eidur or even Jimmy Floyd.

But I do also think if he was given the license to not finish top 4 this season, he perhaps has a few players at his disposal that could be better longer term for ‘Sarriball’ than the established starting 11.

Do you think we have to start planning for life without Eden Hazard?

We have to plan for life without Hazard for the simple reason when he plays badly the team plays badly. We have become far too dependent on him of our team. The only other time we have been so dependent on one player was when we had Mata (again with a weak Chelsea team.

Do you think there's anybody who is being overlooked you think should be getting more game time?

it's actually feasible that we'd be a better team without Hazard....if we could buy a scoring midfielder & a striker with the money

One of the advantages of establishing a playing style is in theory it transcends one player, that may have even been in the thought process behind appointing Sarri (part of the contingency plan for life without Hazard).

We are reliant on him at the moment but he's not irreplaceable in principle. If we bought a proper striker that replaces his goals, and if we bought a tidy playmaker who drops deep that replaces his build up in the opposition half - two things we arguably need anyway.
