its amazing that it takes a incident on national tv in front of camera's to open some peoples eyes, its as if some people believe that if that incident didn't happen then the world would still be a happy place and calling out racism in football would be met with standard snowflake response by the people burying their heads

Yeah I don’t think anyone says that and it would be ignorant to think so.
Would be interesting to compare the amount of sterling articles to Rooney articles at similar ages. I remember lots of negative articles on Rooney, beckham, wilsheres of this world.
Not disagreeing there could be racist undertones and just playing devils advocate really.
Rooneys was for sh@gging grannies and cheating on his wife though, Beckhams was usually for football related/england stuff.
Sterling seems to have articles written about whatever he's up to at the weekend and with a negative spin forced onto it for no reason.
Spend a load of money 'cos your rich?
Book a cheap flight instead of spending loads?
True mike. But Rooney did get other stories about nonsense, as did John Terry (not related to the main incidents) even evening standard last week had a swipe at JT about wearing his kit after the final again, completely unrelated article and 6 years after the event.

In most instances they were making questionable decisions though - smoking, b@anging grannies, getting sent off in world cups, , out partying etc. What has Sterling done recently? I would say he has been a model pro for the last 3+ years after a few silly mistakes early in his career. Why does this negative press continue?
Couldn’t agree more elvis. Like I say devils advocate and that. Maybe it’s the young flashy lifestyle.
Kante is a black player who only seems to get positive press though. It could be as simple as black and white but I’m not sure what the exception or th rule is sometimes

Kante sounds like one of the nicest blokes you are ever going to meet though. Difficult to put a negative spin on someone of his character. Sterling is an easier target, having had a kid following a brief relationship, smoked a shisha pipe etc. when he was younger.
Smoked a shisha pipe
Throw away the key!
Newspapers will write any story which they can legally get away with and will generate the most clicks, some of the papers are racist, I had an editor at a news agency in Manchester explicitly say this.
So it’s a mix of publishing anything that will sell with a right-leaning slant. I do think class has just as big a psrt too play too, a working class person (of any ethnicity) doing well and being paid handsomely doesn’t seem to sit well with certain middle-class/upper middle-class people.
Rooney got loads of media attention similar to Sterling, but the likes of Walcott, if memory serves.

I'm not saying it is a big deal. Far from it. But the tabloids will always report such stories in a negative light, whether it is smoking, shisha, laughing gas, whatever. So I don't think that he has been treated any differently from white players in that respect. But the more recent stuff has come at a time where he appears to be the model professional and his game has improved greatly.

Everyone seems to be ignoring the articles Sterling shared by the Mail of 2 players doing the same thing. One was white, one was black. One did a good thing buying a house and the other did a bad thing buying a house even though he had not played the game.
The same thing was done to Joshua when he was a kid, the mail had an article linking him to his Nigerian upbringing for his issues with the law. Once he became a success he became British.
The media talks about Hamilton's tax arrangements all the time but not a peep is heard about Button, Coulthard, Di Resta and many other British drivers.
Mo Farah was guilty by association for no reason, Sterling had articles about him having many kids which was false as well.
There are tons of examples all over the place where the same rules are not applied

It is a big jump from saying that he doesn't believe that racism is at play in the Sterling case, to not believing that there is no racism in Britain.
I think you should separate what Piers Morgan actually ‘believes’ and what Piers Morgan believes will generate the most publicity for his talk shows.
The problem is that some people think to be a racist, you have to be in the BNP, be a member of the Klan. Racism in Britain is polished and far more sinister.
You only have to look at stop and search for example, where even the Met Police commissioner said the Met was institutionally racist.
The media and journalists are falling over themselves defending Sterling now, where were they long ago?
