No January signings

January signings are usually for players you missed in the summer or because you need to shake up the squad
Do they already know who's available if so maybe there's no one he fancies??
Or maybe his plan is on trackšŸ˜µ

After the disaster of Silva I really can't say i'm too bothered, no one of any real quality is likely to join us in Jan.

He should know his weaker areas by now.
Unless a top, top player is available, and at the right price, then buy him, otherwise make do, barring lengthy injuries to a key player.

As I’ve said, if there is a proven prem player wanting game time on loan (see Clyne) and is happy to come and fight for it with us, i’d Happily see that.

Otherwise I’d Just like to see Puel do a better job of realising the current squad’s potential.

I don't think there's any one position we're desperate for, and the league table doesn't suggest this either.

I'd rather we planned and targeted for the summer, identifying various positions that are needed longer term - and then there could be quite a bit of business to be done. Pretty much all outfield positions could be in line for strengthening.

Until reading the BBC gossip column this morning at how Puel is wanting to offload Silva i had thought he was doing ok for you guys. Has he been that bad or does he just not fit into Puel’s way of playing?

We’ll never know, been a farce from minute he signed and will be until he leaves, unless he’s still here when a new Manager comes in.

Silva just doesn't suit the Premier League, too light weight and gives the ball away too much. Clearly a decent player in there somewhere but a move back to Portugal will be on the cards soon I feel.

Puel doesn't rate him either, so hasn't played.

He doesn’t suit Puel, there’s not enough evidence to say he doesn’t suit the Premier League, takes more than 20 minutes here and there to find out.

He's had chances in the league cup and hasn't taken them.

Lol, that made me laugh out loud.

There is a bit of a myth that you can’t get any quality in January so it’s not worth signing anyone. We have made good January signings in the past - let’s not forget Riyad Mahrez was a January signing, as was Robert Huth who went on to play a massive role at Leicester.

It would be a mistake for the club to rest on its laurels and assume nowhere needs strengthening and I’m concerned if Puel feels this is the case. The first place I would be looking would be up front. If Vardy picked up a serious injury we would literally ha r nothing to offer attacking wise

I would also be looking at central midfield options, including a possible return for Drinkwater at the right price. We have no one who can link defence to attack right now. I absolutely don’t agree everything looks rosy in the squad. I accept the fact that it’s not easy in January but good deals get done all the time

The manager said he did not want anyone, well no one believes what managers say to the media its often deflection or some thing else.
I think getting players away is a priority should swap with WBA Harvey back for king?

I think the first team is almost their its the others required to be up to the rotation required where do we replace a £60m player and Vardy who's injury this season has meant a lose of form not taking chances he would of gobbled up,whatever anyone says about lack of service.

Finnaly we lost to Spurs who drew with Barcelona so are we really at a comparable level with them and others in the top six or just day dreaming of the one season wonder?

posted on 13/12/18

Nev - who has said we are on a comparable level to Spurs? Also no one has said we should be top 6. What we want to see is us competing against the likes of Spurs at the very least. We beat them last year, when Puel was getting things right.

We aren’t good enough for top 6 - but we are good enough to be pushing for top 7. And there was no excuse for not getting that last year. Burnley didn’t have Mahrez - we did. Burnley got 7th. We blew it

You mention Mahrez a lot but that argument doesn’t work because we were so poor with him under Puel during the 5 wins in 21 games streak last year

posted on 13/12/18

Oh do one BS altering your stat's to suit your agrument, the world class Marhez scored (According to the PL website before you ask) 12 goals and had 10 assists last season. So your point is we are no worse off for losing the best player the club has ever had.
Listen to yourself sometimes, i dont think you believe your own argument because as a football fan you must know quality when you see it?

seven goals and six assists already this season not good enough is it for a bench warmer

posted on 13/12/18

We are performing below our potential. That is the fault of the manager.

I just want to see us performing to the level we should be.

I don’t mind losing to Spurs. But looking abject, pathetic and toothless whilst doing so isn’t good enough.

Maybe it is for you Nev, but it’s not for me.

I'm not sure what that proves, Nev. Other than that a player with his head screwed on straight is backing his manager in public like in 99% of other situations.

Although on the other hand at least players and management aren't firing off barbed insults at each other like what's happening at Old Trafford these days.

posted on 13/12/18

Not sure why you have to go and tell me to ‘do one’ simply because I’m challenging your opinion.

Your argument on Mahrez falls flat because of how poor we were WITH him last season. You have never been able to address this. Yes he’s a miss but Puel wasn’t getting the best out of him - why do you think his stats are so much better at Man City?

posted on 14/12/18

Yes, sorry Nev, that proves absolutely nothing.

Normally you can tell if a manager has the players backing by how they perform on the pitch. Are they playing for him.

I’d say that most of the first team still are, but I’d question whether he’s losing the squad, and if performances continue, the excuse of “we’re better than our results suggests” gets replaced by frustration.

Puel needs to get this squad enjoying their football. I don’t see anyone enjoying it. The likes of Ndidi and Vardy are being ruined for the benefit of average joes like Gray.

Man City reportedly after Chilwell this Window!

Claudio looking to waste some of Fulham’s cash on Slowmani, at £14 million that will probably make him out worst ever signing.

posted on 14/12/18

Strong possibility Chilwell will go to Man City at the end of the season, the club won’t let him go in January with no replacement.

If however we achieve top 7 and European football it does make it more achievable to keep Chilwell for another year - but finishing 10th is unlikely to give him any assurances that the club are moving in an ambitious direction

posted on 14/12/18

Saw that BS. Very surprised as I think Chilwell is limited going forward, but he’ll learn his trade at left back with experience and has the touch and pace to fit in to that team.

In fact, what he is good at is interplay so that could actually be a good fit.

£50m though. The world’s gone mad!!!

posted on 14/12/18

Are they desperate for a left back ?
Obviously he has the potential, but id have thought they are 2 seasons to early,
Would he be happy to bench warm just as he's starting to make a mark in the England set up?

posted on 14/12/18

I think Mersey is spot on here. Chilwells defensive limitations will not concern City. They are interested in his pace and his ability with the ball going forward which have developed hugely under Puel (credit to the manager here)

I would expect Chilwell to be a starter for City as attacking full backs with his pace and confidence on the ball are hard to come by. I think Pep could develop him even further and that’s the appeal for him
