Be typical if they put in the performance of their lives against us. New manager bounce and all that.

If Monreal starts at CB, then Kolasinac will be a big risk at LB if it's in a back 4. We'll already be vulnerable defensively.

Think Emery will protect Koscielny a bit and go Licht-Kos-Nacho in a back 3.
Bellerin--Xhaka-Torreira-- Kola
Mkhi---Ozil--Iwobi
Auba

Would be my guess.

Yes. I agree. That looks quite likely.

Will be a tough game especially with the amount of defenders we have missing, will Kos be risked playing 90 minutes having played last night? I think it will be a narrow 2-1 win for us but will not be surprised if Southampton decide to play unbelievably well against us!

Back 4 of Bellerin, Lichts, Nacho and Kola.

Kos will play though. Thats his 3rd game back, and was taken off early.

How many goals have Southampton scored so far? Do we really need to be that defensive and go with a back 3?

Back 3 isn't really that defensive the way we play it. Kola and Bellerin play as wingers, Licht and Nacho bring the ball out from the back a lot - almost play as full backs.
As long as it isn't back 3 plus the same 3 midfielders as Saturday then it has a lot of attacking potential.

It would also mean Ozil won't have to do much defending.

Don't think a back 3 is defensive. Its more of a formation that works when it dominates possession so I never felt comfortable with it in an away game. However was I proven wrong in the Old Trafford game. Gwen and Torreira were immense. My worry is that it won't be those two in midfield but Xhaka whose lack of awareness, positioning and sometimes lax passing is a danger against teams that push up to defend.

I'm quite sure the FA wouldn't take kindly to 12-man squads.

As usual this game will be decided by our attack and probably our second half subs.

22 up 👏

Teams on a bad run always give us a nasty time and often pick up their first points in a while.

Opened in 1912, the White Star dock allowed Southampton to play host to the biggest vessels in the world. Now known as Ocean Dock and a new terminal opened on the site in 2009, alongside berth 46, opposite where Titanic sailed from.

Weren't Southampton in a bit of a "crisis" in the run up to that 0-4 game too? Back then we were a reliable slump-breaker... Like a friendly fat chick.
