Sunderland Til I Die on Netflix

One club I've always struggled to like.

Not sure why tbh

Possibly the bogging strip, eternally empty stadium, the accents.

Dunno, just a bogging club.

Anyhoo.. I caught the second episode as my brother was watching it. Enjoyed watching them struggle

Heard they show a good bit of Celtic giving them a pumpin. Will watch it over the xmas break I think

Even as a Rangers fan, I thought the Celtic friendly was very funny.

The Sunderland fans turn up all excited, totally expecting to hump the wee Scottish team.

It's getting watched for that.

Watched in 1 day working from home

Rodwell on 70k a week for them was madness.

McGeady didn't seem to keen on Coleman, too happy after a defeat for him which is a fair point. Apart from that i really liked Coleman, think whoever was lumbered with that job last season would have taken them down.

This was so much better than the Man City one which was dull as dishwater IMO.

It was supposed to chart Sunderlands success in pushing back for a return to the EPL. In actual fact it was like watching a car crash play out in super slow motion.

Some absolutely hilarious moments in it though - with Martin Bain being the undeniable star of the show.

After earning £1.25m a season overseeing Sunderlands slide to successive relegations he was musing over the new owners coming in 'I am not sure what role I will have to play under them - but I can certainly give them any advice they need'.

I might need to give this a watch.

I actually have a soft spot for them. I used to really like Allan Johnston as a player so sort-of followed their results when he was down there. Super Kevin Phillips was a great wee striker too, alongside big Niall Quinn.

I fvcking knew I recognised his face yesterday.. asked my brother who he was and got nothing in reply.

Martin Bain, eh.

So that's what happened to him.. not satisfied with trying to destroy one club, he was going for the double with Sunderland

When Bain appoints Coleman he sits there thinking he is absolutely the man. He is so pleased with himself.

'This will go down as a historic appointment for Sunderland football club. It will be remembered as a real turning point'.

Bain truly is comedy gold in it

I've got to watch it all now 😂

I had two badly delayed work flights this week and fortunately I had downloaded it onto my Ipad.

Watched it all back to back.

Needless to say it ends with Bain being escorted to his car by security

Watched it de jazz.

Really enjoyed it much better than the man city one that preceded it.

The passion of the fans on Tyne & Wear reminds me of Scottish clubs.

Glory days are in a former era but there is still a beating heart.

But the MC players all wear the rainbow laces

Thought it was great, really interesting.

Made me realise that despite the fact Sunderland is quite far removed from the likes af United, Chelsea, Spurs etc.. the thing I found most profound was that the footballing decisions in terms of buying and selling players etc came purely from the Chairman Martin Bain. He clearly hadn’t a scooby do about football, and it was sometimes like watching a take from “the office” with how unprofessional and disorganiesed it all was.

Made me wonder if United is run in a similar fashion, just replace Martin Bain with Ed Woodward, and add a bottomless pit of cash 😅

Keano

Mr Bain used to be at Rangers.

OP is a Gers fan.

Only joking.

It really ends with the supporters clubs throwing a big party in Bains honour to thank him for the back to back relegations

Martin Bain must be high up in the Masons btw.

Reading threads from the end to start usually benefits me.

Not this time.

I thought I was giving Keano news about Baldy Bain.

It reminded me of Moneyball.
But without the success.
Or the money.
Or the intelligent supercomputer.
