I used to get that exact train every single day (Guildford to London) and go that route. Literally 3 stops away from the Chelsea training ground

Never get anything like this on there. No shady, knife carrying types. Prettt shocking considering at that time of day it would be a carriage with about 2/3 middle class granny types having a day out in London.

The guy who did this no doubt will be the type who laughs in court when sent down for 8/10 years and never learns anything

Would take that train a lot past year as I had work in Cranleigh which is a bus journey away from Guildford. That time of day it was usually dead next to nobody on it. Must have been horrifying for the witnesses and words cannot explain how his son must have felt. Awful.

Don't be ridiculous, the best course of action is to spend tens of thousands of pounds of taxpayers money so he's human rights aren't infringed

There’s evil everywhere Robb, London especially the last 18 months has been unbearable with knife crime on the rise.

There’s no where you can avoid these situations from happening, that kid is gonna be traumatised for the rest of his life and the murderer will spend years inside whilst we the taxpayer fund his living until he gets out.

There is no deterrent. That is the issue, and there hasn’t been for many years. As terrible as this was, this is nothing new. Try walking past the cubicles at A & E at either the North Middlesex or Homerton Hospitals as I’ve done on any given Friday or Saturday night when all the victims are either stab or serious assault victims (some domestic) and you get an idea children may have been involved.

Makes you think as well, I hate travelling on public transport and do feel aggreivated at times by ppl. I’ve never once reacted as I will just stick my headphones on and listen to some music and patientally wait for my stop. Something happened between these two which resulted in a man losing his life

Public transport is the worst in London, literally crammed in like sardines wherever you go and the money you’re paying to travel with those services isn’t even worth it. Especially with the constant delays that occur due to signal failures.

Death penalty should definitely be re-instated for creatures like this.

I walk to work which takes me 45-60mins. Can’t stand public transport during rush hour, it’s unbearable.

How would the death penalty have prevented this murder from happening?
Moreover, is there any evidence the death penalty has any effect as a deterrent?
Have murder rates skyrocketed when countries have abolished capital punishment?

Your own son could be on the wrong side of a mistaken identity conviction one day. Don't think I'll hear you advocating the death penalty if that happens.

I’d run if you could. Or cycle. 45 mins would be a 20-25 min run. I’d do it but I live 20 odd miles from work....

The man was identified by multiple witnesses on the train, the police tracked him down straight away. There’s CCTV footage as well, there can’t be any mistaken identity.

What's the penalty for Knife carrying?, making this a significant prison sentence would be a start

Ever news outlet is reporting the same thing

'Honorable man that would help anybody in need'

This whole thing seems fishy to me.

Witnesses see a man arguing with another man for 5 minutes and they then move to another carriage and carry on arguing up until the guy gets stabbed.

im not saying its deserved but any father who is with their young son should not be arguing with other random men in front of him.

Something clearly provoked the guy to stab him. Yes stabbing is way over the top but we are not all wired the same are we?
A punch may seem over the top to one guy but normal to another, just as with a stabbing. Some people are nutters.

I dont know the full story but theres no way id be arguing with some random bloke in front of my son for 5 ..10..15 minutes on public transport.

Death penalty shouldn't necessarily be re instated, instead it should be eye for an eye. This guy should now be stabbed to death in a controlled environment. Put the fear back into people. Make knife carrying an instant 10 year jail sentence, time to stop being so soft

Tougher penalties for knife carrying certainly make more sense as a deterrent. You don't pack a knife in a rush of blood or just in case you need to cut a bit of string. At least not a big blade.
