Lost chance

Do you really think Shaughnessy has a future here? He looked a good prospect at one point, but too many injuries and didn't take his chances when he got them. One start this season and he had a shocker and was subbed at half time. Behind Halme in the pecking order now. I don't see where he gets in or how he's needed in the squad.

Same with Coyle, his loan is extended because he needs to play and is behind Shackleton, Dallas and obviously Ayling at right back.

If either of these players were starting, fans would be complaining about our squad depth. They're not needed.

Coyle could have been useful before Ayling returned. Shaugnessy had no future here really. Berardi and Co will be back soon so we should be fine at full back. Would be good if we signed a centre back to play alongside Cooper and Jansson.

Centre back order
Jansson
Cooper
Berardi
Phillips
Halme
Ayling

Shaughnessy is at least 7th choice cb at present.

The fact he is going is surely good news. A few thousand off the wage bill and it must mean Cooper / Berardi not far away

How many fit and eligible players do we each think should be playing at CB ahead of Shaughnessy?

Jansson?

Kebab, no use listing unavailable players. Obviously if there were no injuries or suspensions this wouldn't be a talking point.

YP says Cooper played 65 minutes, came off and had a 'precautionary' ice-pack put on his knee. Anyone know about this? Sounds like Leedspeak for another month on the sidelines.

Doesn't sound problematic, but not convinced he can go 90 minutes on Friday either.

Shaughnessy is central midfielder, played for the U23's mostly as part of a back three with two from Struijk, Halme and Diaz.
On the basis that we only bring players that improve the squad, it makes sense to move players on who are unlikely to improve the squad in the near future (that is show they have potential to develop into a player that can take us forward.
Shaugnessy would only ever float around the periphery of the squad and so it's in the best interest of all for him to move on. He is after all 22.
Paudie O'Connor is now beginning to have an impact at Blackpool but he's another who I cannot see a great future for.

Not personally my way of listing it. Using Bielsa ‘s opinion that we have enough defenders already. If unfit he will simply “find a solution”

Sorry, I don't think that has worked out so well for us recently.

Hard to argue with top of the league, etc., but...
