To stay for twenty years under the restrictions of this financial model requires substance, courage and a deep rooted love for the club.

There will be times when your own fans turn on you screaming abuse at the frustration of being a "nearly" team.

Will the odd FA Cup fulfill his ambitions?

It really annoys me when I hear a pundit or see the papers quoting that we have the weakest squad out of the top 4. It's really not the case.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Spurs have just about the best squad in the country, sure they may lose the odd game, but in general they have a serious squad, capable of competing in multiple tournaments.

The media have been playing down the Spurs squad for years, their absolute silence over the Liverpool defeat last night tells you everything you need to know.

We have 5/6 injuries, made 10 changes to the first 11 and still only lost 2-1 to a good wolves side. Had we done that and lost to a league 1 side you might have a point, but unless we suddenly get 10 injuries then it's really not an issue.

Would Spurs have coped in the same circumstances?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes, Spurs have, they have played four cup domestic cup games away this season (if you include the game at MK Dons), Watford, West Ham, Arsenal (all prem sides) and Tranmere, with weakened sides, and won the lot. Big difference Spurs have the squad to cope, despite having lots of injuries.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
When have Spurs' made 10 changes for a cup game this season?

You certainly haven't in the league cup and even against Tranmere you only made 8.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Like Wolves didn`t make changes either, Stop making excuses. It won`t wash. Liverpool spent all that money to cater for nights like last night.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They played mostly first team players. Three of ours made their debuts and others have barely had a look in this season.

Recently Danny Murphy was magnanimous enough to admit that maybe he was wrong to question our summer transfer policy and I've heard Craig Bellamy applaud Spurs for giving youngsters a chance rather than buy.

However clowns like Durham and Merson are just out to irritate and goad Spurs fans so their opinion is of no relevance. Although he's mellowed a bit this season Shearer is another one who just thinks we should pay everybody 300k a week and bankrupt the club.

It never ceases to amaze me how little credit we get in the media for our wage bill versus our league position but thats the way it is and I can't see it changing anytime soon.

Why does anyone even watch and read sh!t media let alone rake notice of it? It continually seems to be Spurs fans on here too.

Because no one except the chairman gives a chit about wage bills.

Thats not what I find at all. Chatting to supporters of other clubs from all 4 divisions you will find theres an awful lot of respect out there for what Spurs are doing on a shoestring compared to the other top 6 teams.

Most Spurs fan do but the article was about Spurs being ridiculed for the lack of summer signings and it would be nice to see more contrition from those who are paid for their views and got it wrong.

There is a lot of respect for Spurs from both fans and the media.

It makes articles like this subject of ridicule.

The media never have a good word to say about Spurs, do you think if they had just lost to their closest rivals in the league, and then a few days later been dumped out of the FA Cup the media would have gone all quite, they would have been all over Spurs, saying how weak they are.

Blimey after an absolutely fantastic December, Spurs lost to Wolves, and the media went into a frenzy.

No they didn't Sandy, stop making stuff up.

It didn't help Spurs case when they and their fans started declaring themselves in the title race, then end up losing at home to Wolves the following week.

This blatantly isn’t true. Whenever I’ve seen pundits discussing Spurs they’ve done nothing but praise them for the league position despite not spending money.

Yes they did, and in case you haven`t noticed, despite losing just the first game in six are still very much involved in the title race.

Since the Wolves game, Spurs have moved on scoring 10 goals and conceding none. Not sure why supporters like you just focus on one Prem game to try to beat Spurs with.

The Media declared City were in the title race, then they lost three our of four, and guess what you or the media didn`t say a thing.

I'll ask again,

Why on Earth do so many Spurs fans on here care about the media? It's genuinely weird.

Buy a broadsheet and stop taking in sh!t media. It really does come across as call man syndrome.

"My only hope if I have the opportunity to talk with Arsene Wenger is to ask if it was worth it. I don't know what he would say. I would like to ask.'

Wenger left Arsenal in May after 22 years. His first decade was one of unprecedented success. Then came a decade struggling to compete as the new wealth of Chelsea and Manchester City took hold.

Spurs have skipped the unprecedented success and arrived at half-time.

'It's true we work and we know the reality,' said Pochettino. 'I hope to be here for 20 years and decide to leave or finish my career here. But I don't know because I need to ask him one day if he was happy in the way he finished.

'From my point of view it was so unfair how the people treated him and talked, but we will see.'

Basically saying unlike Mr. Wenger he can’t hack it under these restrictions.
