Agree fully. We had a poor summer transfer wise minus Klich and Bielsa.

I said the same day, it's incredible what Bielsa has achieved bearing in mind the inbound business has really had little impact.

When you see Clarke, you realise how mediocre other wingers like Dallas and Alioski really are, and makes it even more amazing what Bielsa has achieved.

Bielsa tells us we're not efficient enough in front of goal...I think its really a reflection that we just don't quite have the right quality to make the most of the opportunities that the Bielsa system offers.

In fairness, I don't think you can criticise Orta for Blackman and Brown. Blackman injury was a freak right before he was about to get game time, and Brown was only ever a long term signing with minimal risk. Been made to look worse by the unforeseeable Saiz situation. Bamford probably also falls into this category, and hasn't looked bad when played.

I wouldn't say any of them have failed as spectacularly as some of last season's signings. And better than lots made under Cellino.

Kinnear discussed the window at length in his programme notes ahead of the Blackburn clash on Boxing Day.

"I don't believe there is any club in January that will be able to call on either new or returning talent which comes anywhere close to this ensemble of players," he wrote.

"Nonetheless, we will use the January market to evaluate any opportunities - but our criteria on adding to the squad will be exacting.

"Any new face will need to add significant and immediate capability to the first team, fit within our responsible wage structure, and not destabilise the squad that has served us so well.

"Identifying and securing this type of player will be challenging and we are conscious that the majority of January purchases fail to deliver against expectations. However, our scouting and analytics capability give us a better chance to beat the odds."

Lubo - Fair points.

I would agree with Bamford.

I would challenge Blackman (He was second choice to BPF) and also Brown (Why sign someone with a long running injury in the hope of them possibly being fit/returning from injury successfully?)

Yeah definitely. I don't see either as winger to be honest and lack pace. Both valuable squad players mind.

Clarke looks a serious player doesn't he? Only 17...

But you can't really call Blackman a failure. He never got an opportunity to show what he could do. When that opportunity was going to come he got injured. Horrible for the lad, but hardly Orta's fault.

We aren't paying any wages or medical fees for Brown, so having him around is a no risk strategy, and a player of his quality becoming available for the second half of the season could be a blessing. Will wait and see.

Bamford was a good signing that’s been unlucky.

Otherwise, only Douglas has been a success this summer.

With a different manager, we’d be battling to be in the top half.

The chance is right in front of us, an injection of genuine quality and we are 75% of the way there in my opinion.
