Great article and its good to hear Grayson talk a little more in the press about his time at Leeds. Maybe the clause Bates used to put in peoples contracts stopping them talking has finally run down!
Bates was well known for keeping those within happy. I remember a guy who used to work for Bates at the height of the fans hatred for him. He didnt have a bad word to say about him because Bates ordered him taxis, bought his wife presents etc. Bates was excellent at manipulating every scenario to make himself come out looking ok. In truth he was a first class knut. No surprise that his wife never spoke to Grayson again. Two faced pair of wonkers. Got to laugh at Bates threats to sue Grayson.
Bates got away with millions from our club. Raped every decent asset we had and finally went when fan pressure was building. I will never forget the frustration i had with the apathetic Leeds fans who allowed him far more time than he deserved. I will never forget the day i joined LUST in the East Stand Upper on the final day of the season v Leicester City. Barely saw a kick in the game because Bates sent an army of stewards to the area. Was only a couple of hundred people maybe who had moved/bought new seats for the day and there must have been over 50 stewards. Some people were thrown out for singing anti bates songs and it was very very heated. Definitely the lowest points ever of my association were those dark days under the cockroach (harj)
Garrrhh dont know how long it take me to get over Bates. The very mention of his name puts me in a bad mood!!!! Remember getting on TV protesting down at Billys statue after Howson was sold with my then very young son. Should have been 000s there but only a few hundred came.

It was a very brief 1 second camera view only as it moved along the crowd. I did have it recorded for a long time but not sure i still have.
