his kicking was pretty guff, so not sure he would fit in any better tbh.
Can’t see how they’d get 10m for him
He’s been well out the picture there for a while, wasn’t doing well when he was playing past season at all. Wouldn’t be surprised if he was loaned out by them. Don’t think he’s even better than Gordon.

He's third choice at a struggling soton. He must have went backwards
to be fair they spent a fortune on a keeper in the summer and he's only played 1 league game

What was it the Catalonian press dubbed him 'The Wall'

El gran muralla !
Was brilliant that night in Barcelona.
Forgot he existed, he was doing well a while back. Did he get an injury?
I'd imagine you could get him at 5m and we'd still have a better keeper so i hope it happens.
You'd need to oil him up before every pass, no chance of this one.

Aye I was thinking more long term as a permanent replacement. I don't think we'll ever find a GK that can pass the ball well, they're all in the £30m+ price range.
We'd get him cheap especially if he is now training with U21's.
However as has been said he wasn't a great kicker. Like Gordon he is a great shot stopper. Both went for a lot of money due to their goalkeeping prowess. However Rodgers (and indeed modern football) wants sweeper keepers who can play. Neither IMO come under that

New manager, new ideas.
Hence why Davis is now in Glasgow
Wonderful keeper
Produced the best save I've ever seen and got no credit for it as the ref gave a goalkick
His save from jelavic in the final as well was class
he had a double save against hearts that was outstanding.
The night against Barca at home he was absolutely unbelievable.
Even Barca's goal, see the save he pulls off just before it man
Stevie Woods is a cracking goalkeeping coach, got to be one of the best around.

He was a great shot stopper but he was as bad as Alan McNightmare at dealing with cross balls. For someone as tall as him it is a bit of an embarrassment that he is deficient in that area of goalkeeping.
Have we ever had a keeper who was decent with crosses?
Pat Bonner was competent with crosses but unfortunately he had two banana feet which meant his kick out used to start off going down the centre of the pitch an invariably would curl into the main stand or the jungle depending on which goal he was in.

It's a dying art...hardly any keepers do it now.
Remember seeing Pat Jennings for NI at Hampden come out and pluck a corner out the air with one hand...no gloves..just stuck to him.
Think that was about 1969. What a keeper he was.
most goalkeepers are poor at cross balls now as they're all more athletic and agile than keepers of years gone by so they don't have as great a physical presence
also most of them practice playing football now than anything else
Not for me, not worth the money and as has been said, would just be the same as Gordon with the ball at his feet.
What about when Gordon swings his right peg at it though

That's a good point, it is very rare to see a dominant goalkeeper that comes and claim the ball at most corners. Of course the trajectory on corners and free kicks has changed a bit and are a flatter trajectory with greater pace on them so less time for a keeper to get to the flight to claim it.
Jennings was amazing at dominating the cross ball. Some great photos of him soaring above players to claim cross balls.
Also agree with Ghod they are expcted to concentrate more on the shot stopping but also required to be the distributor now which was a role carried out by the sweeper. The high press/block game has seen a requirement for the keeper to have a competent level of football skills nowadays otherwise they don't get a game irrespective of how good they are at the traditional areas of goalkeeping.
Must admit, I wasn't old enough to see Pat Bonner play but looking back on clips he looked pretty shiite? Was he actually any good?

gives me the fear every time mate.
Imagine being a full back standing on the touchline and suddenly realising that he's played one of those floaty efforts in your general direction. You know that the two most likely options are that the ball with either go out of play or you're going to wake up surrounded by photographers and an ambulance crew.
