Definitely starting to turn potential into reality. Which is something we’ve seen not happen with so many players that are given so much hype so young.
Have to say though I was a bit disappointed with some of his reactions to losing the ball right at the end today though. I appreciate that he’d put in a big shift for 90 minutes. But walking back after losing the ball is not ideal when your team are holding on to a 1 goal lead

It's unsual that he's played so many games at such a young age, and didn'he only get a start due to an injury?

If he continues on the same development as the last couple of years then yes he can be a Utd forward for years to come, he grew up with Utd so has that inherant love for the club which I always think can give a player that extra 5%, good luck to the lad, being a main man at Utd is never easy and with the cash they have there will always be someone else who's flavour of the month elsewhere being linked, he's certainly first choice atm and long may it last 👍👏

Far too many on here were same. I kept saying you don't score on all those competition debuts and score big goals Vs Arsenal, City n Liverpool at the age of 20 and younger. Also did the business in semi final of EL at 17 years old. The boy is phenomenal.

Where was Harry Kane at 17,18,19, 20 years old?

Give him time and games upfront and he scores goals and we look better as a team. No surprises here. He's a gem.

I think Mourinho tryeed to ruin him. Always said it under LVG we always had the ball high up to the forwards but under Mourinho we didn't play high press game meaning he had less of the ball to do his things.

Hands up here too. I have had my doubts about him when it comes to finishing chances, because he has been often found wanting in that regard in matches, be them "big" or routine. That's been my biggest question with Rashford. Can he be trusted to score in a one on one situation or a very presentable scoring chance? The answer has been "no" on many occasions.

However, his overall play was never in question for me. I'm hoping he's found the confidence to finish off his excellent build up play now.

He should definitely be ahead of Lukaku now who I thought was shocking when he came on. Such a lazy footballer, you have lingard and Rashford busting a gut to chase the ball after 80 min playing and Lukaku just strolling around even though he was fresh.

Yeah I thought if I was Lukaku I would have run myself into the ground instead of jogging.

Yes very true. You’d think the fact he had lost his place he’d be trying his hardest to get back in the team. Can’t remember who it was who played a ball down the touch line and instead of chasing it down to relieve the pressure he just stood in the middle of the pitch. He really does need to shape up and change his attitude

He was always a step above Welbeck. If he had been played in his proper position under Mourinho and LVG he'd have way more goals at this age too.

I'm still annoyed that Jose has fecked up his development for the past 2.5 years. Just think how much better he'd already be if he'd been playing as a striker.

Rashford had a good record under LVG though. It was under Mourinho he really regressed. Now he is shooting as much as he did when under LVG if not even more as we are using him like we did under LVG. Not rocket science. Mourinho seemed to think playing a slow way with a low defensive block would help us when all out attack is best form of defence as they have to defend more.

We went 10 consecutive home games under LVG without registering a goal. Let's not romanticise a dreadful period. LVG was not a good United manager, and I have no idea why you keep trying to say he was. 10 games at home. In a row. It's insanely awful!

*meant to say in the first half. Still dreadful and indefensible

Thought it was 10 consecutive first halves at home? Could be wrong but I don’t recall us not score in 10 home games on the trot

Rashford is far above Welbeck's level. You can tell just by looking at him, all he needs is consistent playing time in his best position not shifted out wide or on the bench to accomadate someone else.

His scoring record has improved, he will be a great player.

......
Did you know LVG won the most points at home in the premierleague over the 2 seasons combined lol. Also that stat never happened. In fact it was the opposition who barely scored at OT. It was more 0-0 at HT we were the far better team in most of them.

The amazing thing was our most attacking games under LVG at OT was the games we scored 0.

Ok, must just be thinking of Mourinho then. Rashford was screwed over anyhow.

World class difficult finishing.
t’s scary to think how good this kid can be in a couple of years - a world class certainly

LVG won the most points in the 38 premierleague games at home total and we dropped a lot of points when we were the far better team.

The amazing thing was in 16/17 season we scored less at home then the 15/16 season in the PL and barely won any games.

For the record 8 am not comparing him as a player t9 Welbeck. I just felt he could go the same way in terms of being a good premier league player but nothing special.
