I agree it’s a great result for Shrewsbury, and clearly an attractive fixture for Dave. You just have to look at his Twitter feed tonight. Part of the romance of the FA Cup, and why we all love it. I’m not going to be small-minded, and I am glad “little” Shrewsbury have made it though against us. I wish them all the best, but hope we prevail!

Shame it’s not at Molineux in a way. Dave would get a great reception just as Kevin Doyle and Mick McCarthy did and Leon didn’t
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But yet Leon had the better career post molineux so doubt he cares

Memories of that amazing semi-final night against Shrewsbury at Molineux all those years ago. One of the best Molineux nights. I seem to remember that the Shrewsbury management were eventually recruited to take over at Wolves.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Threads dead now so you probably wont see this, but Im pretty sure that was the quarter final and yes Graham Turner it was in charge at Shrews then. He came to us via Villa though. Think he was still playing back in 79 too.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ah - could have been the QF. I was in the old North Bank, just behind the goal. Great atmosphere that night.
Were you working at the Molneux Hotel "all those years ago" Butey?

Definitely QF, SF was against Arsenal at a neutral ground, Villa if I recall correctly.
Never forget the sinking feeling in the stomach when I was at Villa Park for that semi and they announced the Wolves team. McGhee completely lost his marbles and selected Claridge and Robinson instead of Bull and Keane. It was game over before it even began
That was the later one DJ, 97/98-ish wasn't it?
That's got me thinking actually, I didn't go to that game but cant remember why. Was just before my short exile in the south west so would have still had my season ticket.
You didn’t miss anything that day oldgold. Rarely can a semi final have been played with less passion. Wolves were just not good enough

I was at that game too. I remember the bewilderment that Wolves were going with the new signing, Claridge, who probably had no affinity with our club, over Bully.
