Looking like Martin O'Neil has the job

Not sure how anyone could be anything but horrified if this is true. MON has turned us down many times before and now he's a washed up has-been he comes crawling back. A turgid appointment of a man stuck in the stone ages, get ready for players playing out of position every week, midfield 5's barely crossing the halfway line and one up front getting balls pumped at him from 80 yards.

I truly hope this doesnt happen...

Radio Nottingham reporting it now.

Not sure what to think. He should have been appointed 30 years ago.

Would have preferred Jokanovic but not going to lie that I am happy with maton even if it is heart ruling head moment.

Worth noting his management career nose dived massively after Robertson retired!

Martin*

Agree though whether he is going to be able to pick club managent up straight away. He did great at villa but that was a long time ago.

I’m pleased for him as he will be wanting to prove a point that he is still a decent manager. Just very wary that another club legend has put himself in the firing line with owners who have just proved themselves to be meddlers.

I would say there is a fair chance that Robbonmay be tempted to pop down and give him a dog out seeing as he is still living in Nottingham. Not heard if Keane is coming too or not?

Definitely plop or bust for the Greeks. If they don’t get this one right, their stock will really fall.

In fairness, his Villa sides were successful and played some great stuff. As an international manager, you can only work with what you’ve got.

Not sure about this at all. No doubting his ability as a motivator in the past; does he still have it? A lot may depend on who he gathers around him.

Wouldn't have been my first choice, but let's give him a chance.

Big question is Can he play Centre Back?

I guess Daryl Murphy to Ipswich has been knocked on the head.

Murphy will get a new 4 year deal and will lead our line into his 40's. Get ready for some of the most dour football ever seen at the City ground, I just hope to f##k he leaves Keane at home

Hopefully Robertson will be his assistant.

To be fair he has a good record (apart from Sunderland but that was a sinking ship) and even at Ireland did a good job with players who are not that good.

I’m kind of with Len on this. We should be going all out for Jokanovic. MON was a very good manager but he really does feel past it. I could bloody see this happening as it’s the natural response after sacking a foreign coach, go for a club legend. When that fails go back to unknown foreign coach again!

He went stale with Ireland and does this mean we get Keane too?! Hope not.

Well with Pearce it went perfectly at the start.

We only need that again for six months

I'm very surprised that Marinakis has gone down this route, I thought he was a fairly astute enough owner. This is utter desperation, MON is as thin skinned these days and cant handle any criticism so whats he gonna be like when the Greek starts wondering why he's playing players out of position every week and why our midfielders arent allowed cross the half way line. If they had concerns that Karanka played negative football then they aint seen nothing yet.... MON is also allergic to youth players so expect our average age to be about 33 from here on in!!!

Jokanovic has obviously turned us down though and that does worry me.

He apparently has ridiculous wage demands

Keogh for Forest?!!

Please let this happen!!

Least we’ve skipped McLeish and Billy’s third stint before going for another club legend.

We’ll have to see which MON we get.
Would still rather of stuck with Karanka

Why have you loaned us Worrall if you are needing a CB?

I know he's not great but he's not been awful either.

I'd have tried to poach Cook from Wigan if Jokanovic didnt have realistic wage demands, failing that I'd have gone for Carvalho before MON every single time. This appointment I suspect might implode McLeish style, wouldn't be shocked if it lasts weeks rather than months and we're back in square one by March half looking over our shoulder at relegation with our reputation in tatters yet again.

Make no mistake MON is a Fawaz style appointment, EM has so much riding on this now and it has huge potential to explode in his face

If he's half as good as Psycho I'll be well pleased.
