Liverpool could have not bought Carroll after selling Torres....
The list of most valuable players 😴😴
Compiled by someone with delusional grandeur 👍👍👍
Wilson isn't even worth a third of that.
Torres for £15m was a great deal at the time, it wasn't 6 months later though

Don't forget there was and always will be a premium on British players, so he's probably overpriced 20m already.
Then after a possible Brexit the prices for decent British players will shoot through the roof.
So if you expect Brexit to go through, it might be a good strategy to grab any good player to meet the homegrown player quota in the future. Then yes, I would pay 75m for Wilson...
And I know it’s not my money, but if we ever paid that for the guy, I’m sure plenty would argue they’d prefer we just shell out the buyout fee for Icardi.

I argued that on the article you're referencing.
It's not just about not getting value for money, it heaps so much pressure on the player. Morata crumbled under the pressure of a 60mil fee and he's spent his entire career at huge clubs, how on earth is a striker whose only 15-20 goal seasons came in the Championship going to handle the expectations of needing to deliver those returns at a top club to justify his price?
I'd make legitimate arguments that recall Abraham would be a better option anyway, but when we're talking about prices like that there's no discussion anymore.
Would love Icardi but the club are no longer ambitious or smart enough to buy players of his top standard. They'd prefer to save a few million and buy some middle of the road type player that ends up doing nothing for us.
Well said Superb!Superb, what about Piatek or Jovic for Chelsea in this transfer window!
Zahra, to be honest we should have loads of really good targets lined up. The club have known for long enough that we're desperately lacking in the striker department so we should have a decent shortlist. It seems however that the club have decided it's Higuain or Wilson.
