Who on Earth thought it was wise to loan a player out without the option of a recall?

Especially when Clyne was the only legitimate full back cover.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Probably because he isnt. We have four players in the squad chosen ahead of him at right back all season.

Why keep a fifth choice right back who needs games? Loan the best option.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

You mean taking players out of their natural positions to accommodate.

Clyne had a fine performance against United and truth be told, played better than Trent had for some time.

He’s not the 5th choice right back. He’s the second.

Who are you suggesting we put at right back without pulling them from their natural positions?

We should have kept Clyne in a box and wheeled him our once a month in hindsight.

Who are the four ahead of him, he still a good player
Not enough cb's either.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
TAA, Gomez, Milner and Fabinho have all played ahead of him this season.

So no other natural right back.

Thanks for confirming.

Not to mention, you’re taking away midfield options.

We'll probably finish below Everton.

No recall option. Loan was hasty and ill thought out. Shades of Robbie Keane sell back half way through the season without a replacement.

Fabinho actually plays rb for brazil, made his madrid debut at rb, and was a rb til he went to monaco.

He is 100% a natural right back but better suited to midfield so they'd prob play him there reluctantly, like them playing him CB.

Well Fabinho played years at right back, Gomez a season or two. Milner can play anywhere. Youd think we have lost our one man team like Spurs have, for two months the way some of you are going on. We have a squad and have players to play right back. Jesus. City coped with Delph at left back, then Laporte. Release the finger from the panic button.

It would be difficult to understand if he was second choice but he isnt. Four players have started ahead of him all season. He was fifth choice, hence being loaned. Why would you loan him if he was second choice for crying out loud?

Some real drama queens on here. Calm the feck down.

Because we've got two currently fit players who can play in the position, with another returning from injury next week.

Absolute nonsense. He was getting praised for his performances at right back last season and at left back in his first season and of course at centre back this season. Gomez is a better right back than Clyne for me. Both not great going forward but Gomez better than Clyne. Fabinho also better than Clyne. I would argue Milner also.

Gomez has played rb five times this season and done well. He's better defensively than Trent too.

I think people simply arent raking everything into account when it comes to Clyne being sent out.

Fabinho plays RB for Brazil, not sure what the problem is tbh.

i'm calm just wondering. gomez for me should never play right back why risk it he's a very good cb partner for vvd. milner can play anywhere in a pinch but again better in the midfield. same with fab, didn't know he played so much right back but ideally he would be better just in front of the back four.
that leaves clyne who i think is one of the best english right backs. rather have two good players at each position rather than have people filing in all over the place. anyway just my opinion, i think klopp is the best manager in the pl.

I think people are missing the obvious here.

If we play Fabinho at RB then we automatically lose his influence in the middle. Same with Milner.

You’re sacrificing a midfielder to play RB and yes, he plays RB for Brazil which is a fair point but we’re not Brazil. We play in a different style with different players. He’s not familiar with that role for Liverpool.

In a title run in, I think it’s very risky and like I said, the bigger issue is losing the influence in midfield for which many on here have been praising him of late. Even more so now that Wij is out too.

As things stand, we will have to play a midfielder at right back for one game which is not a huge deal.

Hopefully it’s one game. If Zaha has a field day against our RB, we’ll all bemoan the decision.

Thankyou Metro 100% correct.

It’s not a criticism of Klopp but why does everyone get so defensive over something that could be? Yet again we are getting rid of good squad players for no reason at the most important time of the season.

For so long now over the years teams have had squads big enough to cope and players realise they can’t play every game for the top teams. But can come in and perform well when needed. Why does it have to be different for us?

11 players can’t play every game over a whole season and Clyne is needed now. It doesn’t benefit us at all him going to Bournemouth it’s just Clyne moaning about not playing. Tough sh*t you are part of the squad in a massive season, deal with it.

Well it only leaves Clyne if you take away the other four who start ahead of him but we aren't doing that, hence why he was loaned out.

We could plat Shaqiri at right back, Moreno as a number 10 and loan Bobby to Cardiff for the rest of the season. Dunno why Jurgen hasn't thought of that yet.
