Always thought Bayliss was a very good ODI and T20 coach and England have improved in these formats, especially the ODI game as they now regularly post over 300 scores.

But yes, gone the other way in Test Cricket. Awful side away from home, can't handle the spin in sub-continent surfaces and these constant collapses in the batting order. Definitely need a new coach for test cricket and I think you've got too many ODI/T20 batsman in your test side who can't adapt to a more defensive approach.

I think they would adapt perfectly well if they had coaches who actually did something on the mental side of the game. Test-standard players shouldn't need significant technical changes, just tweaks. The mental discipline/resilience/application side of things is what sets great Test players apart.

Bayliss has basically admitted he does nothing except have the odd team meeting - no tactical coaching, he's said on many occasions he likes to take a step back and let the players do their own thing. I do wonder how much Eoin Morgan actually coaches the ODI and T20 sides too.

And Ramprakash is a joke - how could he possibly coach players in mental resilience when he failed so spectacularly in that respect as a player?

The Test team desperately needs a separate coaching setup to the ODI and T20 sides. And it needs to involve Paul Collingwood in some capacity.

Ballance, Duckett, Westley, Malan, Stoneman, Lyth, Robson, Hameed, Compton, Carberry, Bopara, Morgan, Vince, Hales....... have I left anybody out, there are probably more?

All the above have had a chance for England in Tests in recent memory, most never played more than a dozen tests before being discarded.

No doubt Denly and Jennings will be added to that list before long also. Hopefully Burns can be the exception, it`s time somebody came through and stayed there long term.

England have named a 12-man squad for the final Test against West Indies starting in Saint Lucia on Saturday.

Mark Wood and Keaton Jennings are in contention to play, with Ben Foakes, Chris Woakes and Jack Leach missing out from the Three Lions' 14-man squad in the Caribbean.

England 12-man squad to face Windies: Joe Root (c), Moeen Ali, James Anderson, Jonny Bairstow, Stuart Broad, Rory Burns, Jos Buttler, Sam Curran, Joe Denly, Keaton Jennings, Ben Stokes, Mark Wood.

Has Jennings got something incriminating on the selectors?

Unfortunately there isn't another opener in the squad so Jennings had to play. Have to stop putting bits and pieces all rounders in the top 5. Made the right call on bairstow as WK as seems to be happier batting 6 or 7. Don't gamble with stokes if he is injured. Its a dead rubber just no point.

Stokes is fit so Curran is left out.

Windies have won the toss and will bowl first.

Windies might ease up being two up...but I doubt it...We'll get what we deserve

Couldn't agree more...have said on a few occasions it's stunning he is actually still employed as batting coach

Bairstow from 3 to 7...excellent management

A couple of scares for Jennings. A review would have seen him out plus a straightforward slip catch dropped.

Umpires gave given WI nothing. All the close lbw decision have gone England way. Some have been right shockers too.

Buttler bowled early today 233-5.

just last evening Stokes came out with this comment

Ben Stokes says England's batsmen have not approached the third Test against West Indies any differently, despite defeats in the first two.

The tourists reached 231-4 on day one in St Lucia, an improvement after being bowled out for 77, 246, 187 and 132 earlier in the tour.

"People will say 'why couldn't they have this discipline, why couldn't they have this fight before'," said Stokes.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

The England test cricket team DO NOT CARE. for the many reasons one being they have been bowled for 47 and 77 in recent times. They continue to give the likes of Jennings a chance. when a blind man can see he can not bat at international level

You know when a coach is leaving, be it through choice or by those above. the team often play garbage.
be it football/cricket or any other team sport.
Its got that feel of England team.. There is no leadership.I may have said I want England to get hammered from now on in. But seriously we cant go into the ashes with that moron Bayliss in charge. something has got to change. otherwise we will lose the Ashes quite easily.
