Theres more chance of Donald Trump being president or Leicester winning the league than a forced General Election

No chance of the vote going through, but it's a process. Onwards and hopefully to some sort of conclusion.

Feels like edging closer to undoing brexit as a whole.

Can't believe the next GE isn't scheduled for another 3 years. It seems like May has been in power for bloody decades.

At this time not calling one seems like a stay of execution but yes why would you relinquish power if you didn't have to?

Take away Brexit and I'd still believe she's been the worst PM in my lifetime.

The only comparison i could make between her and Maggie is her gender.

Personally, I would prefer a General Election at this point.
Just for 2 reasons:
1) To get rid of May
2) Those MPs screaming for "people's vote" can go back to their constituencies and have a people's vote. But this vote will not be about Brexit but about how they have served their various constituencies during this Brexit process.

As you mentioned not going to happen. Tories would do anything to stay in power.

How's a GE going to sort out this mess.

Whoever was negotiating the deal was bound to fail. The EU would always give nothing and every party has a range of views within it as to how we should leave. There is almost no deal that will keep enough people happy to get it through, either with the EU or our parliament.

Labour are just as divided, even their leader has a long history of opposition to the EU. Pathetic how Labour all voted along party lines last night....interested more in forcing this situation to promote a vote of no confidence than actually voting on their beliefs. If that aint self-serving and opportunism then what is?

The promised cross-party discussions to come up with an acceptable compromise will just highlight that actually there is little consensus on how we leave, with many actually wanting us not to. How can you have agreement on how we exit when many want to remain.

If i'm honest even as a Labour voter, I am really disappointed with the performance of my own party.

I would vote for them again in an election but mainly out of habit at this time.

To say i believe the Tories genuinely don't give a stuff about the working classes is an understatement IMO.

But i also wish my own party would stop lying about saying they could get us a better deal. NOBODY CAN.

If the EU give us a better deal it would cause it's own collapse!

Don't be naive. Any party would do anything to get in / stay in power.

Labour trying to make political gain out of this situation and force GE as its their best chance of power. That should not be their focus right now.

If the worst happens and we end up REMAINING I hope we can strike a deal with EU on how much our contributions are, freedom of movement, CAP, fishing and all the other carp that is harmful to the UK the REMAIN should be cancelled.

Agree. It's all about power. They don't care about people (leaver, remainer, young / old). They know how to divert the hard / difficult questions and divert the blame on something. The political situation is a mess now. Every politician wants different things as part of brexit and we will end up with nothing.

Brexit has become a desperate mess. I voted for leave but have zero faith now that can be delivered properly by either party. Both May and Corbyn are utter drips who I wouldn't trust with a pair of scissors let alone a country. And yet we have to entrust one of these mongs to bring about a successful Brexit. Never going to happen.

Spot on

There are a number of Labour and Tory MPs that are in for a shock

Its all become such a mess that any option now will result in anger. So either 80 year old pensioners will threaten violence after nap time or drum circles will be formed.

I suggest we leave the EU but join another country... Chile for example

Negotiation is a two-way thing.

We were never going to be able to deliver on what most thought Brexit would be, except where there is a no deal. Many will have thought that that is what would happen anyway. Vote OUT and then at some given date all ties are severed.

Few will have comprehended the complexity of it all and many of the implications when they voted

The EU were always going to make this as painful as possible to discourage others, to ensure the club doesn't dissolve with other members heading for the exit.

True but if you listen to Farage, Johnson and Gove you could use the following letter as an analogy…………..

“Dear SKY

I no longer wish to pay for your services and give you my 30 days’ notice to cancel my subscription.

However I do still wish to receive all the channels I currently receive, the same broadband and whilst I’m at it, I may as well keep my landline service as well. Give me what I want because you need me and tell all your other customers you’ve given me this deal as well.

Yours sincerely

The man on the moon.”

Which is pretty much what they’ve said we could do with the EU.

It’s easy for people that don’t have to do the negotiating to say they’d do, when they’re in full knowledge that they would never have to do the negotiating.

The letter to Sky analogy only works if Sky have serious connection issues, a bad satellite, unpleasant customer service and keep sending someone to live in your house as part of a mass movement policy

Oh it's you. What a shock.

So they didn't suggest that we should push for the same benefits we're currently receiving as being paid up members?

OK you're right as usual

Like May was not taking advanage of the situation when she called a very unnecessary General Election a year or so back. She is now running scared. Awful leader of a truely dreadful party.
