I couldn't translate point 3, have you had a few beers?

The football was better today, but he had to go for it after recent results really. I can't bear to see Mendy and Ndidi in midfield anymore, it's killing us. Oh and Wes Morgan, please just retire him.

He will be gone at the end of the season regardless imo.

I can’t really change my mind after one game. Persisting with Morgan is reason enough for him to go as well as leaving Choudhury out. However he has done a good job of coaching youth but remember Mersey we are always better away from home.

Expect strong performances against the top sides that will keep him in his post before the usual struggles against the bottom half

Ultimately I do believe it’s now a question of when and not if

Actually thought you were the better side overall today though of course the game script dictated you would have to attack.

That said you did come out of the locker room fast asleep and not really sure why you were wide open in the last minute after clawing your way back.

Updated Your Honour. I had had a few jars but my illegible text was mainly trying to type too fast and not reading before sending.

Basically a high line with Morgan doesn’t work!

BS - I think the Mendy/Ndidi debacle is still a problem for two reasons:

1. Ndidi just doesn’t seem capable of playing that role and is over thinking things, and as a result, playing poorly.

2. There seems to be no protection on the edge of the area when we’re defending, and no link to the front players when we’re not. As a two they’re not linking with each other either. Something just isn’t right.

3. Mendy is just rubbish.

Let me me clear on my original post. I still have no faith the Puel will fix these problems, but I’m now more comfortable seeing over the next few games if he can.

It all comes down to whether he’s willing to evolve. Yesterday was a little sign that he can. A couple of hidings in our next 2 games and I think that will be that.

* three reasons

So why not call out barnes then for putting Mendy in the position where he had to make a tackle that got him booked or when he passed the ball off the pitch.
We shouldn't becuase hes a young player and we don't want to shot his confidence Menday has been one of the most consistent players this season. More of yesterday was about yesterdays men not being up to it.
How do you drop the club captain who has so much influence of the pitch with the other backroom staff and the owners?
Puel wanted to bring on Hamsa but could not for the last 20 minutes because of Harry's injury did not have enough subs.
Puel should be credited with what he said at half time because the players played for him and came out like a team possessed.
So a Puel team scores three goals thats a possitive if you look at the games Cardiff Newport etc how many games have we lost when players maek individual errors or like shinji don't take the guilt edge chances.
Great save from Kasper world class but should of caught one and nearly got himself in trouble and it might be harsh but he could see the other wolves player so why did he not try yo close down the shot but he wasn't the issue.
Neves ball would of split every team and as Mersey says we need one of those

Don't worry Mersey, you're just grieving for what could of been, now you're in the denial stage but will come out of that soon.

posted on 20/1/19

Yeah, think I need a bit of denial for a while TB. In denial I trust

I doubt that game would have done too much to change any fan’s opinion either way. The players should take responsibility for some truly awful defending.

I just feel melancholy and fed up.

Each week he will continue to rotate for the sake of rotating which means probability and the percentages say, we won’t play our best 11 each week. What a depressing way to bumble through a season.

I don’t even know how confident I feel that he will revert to 3 defensive CMs and counter attack against the handful of ‘top’ opponents we have coming up. So even the little shard of optimism that we might play to the strengths of,still, one of the best strikers on the league for at least a few games is in the balance for me.

You win pundits and ill-informed opposition fans - we would be happy with this. You win Puel, the passion is drifting out of me and I’m resigned to feeling helpless and passive in your team selections. I am starting to become a different fan when watching games now. I genuinely can’t be @rsed to somehow try to find the positives in Puel’s tenure, find the passion to defend the need for change or bother to moan about any of it anymore. We will continue as we are, and at some undetermined point Puel will go. In the meantime, I will just go through the motions and watch each match numbly, nodding passively when people explain how ungrateful we are as fans and happy we should be

Summed up how I feel Lose_The_Faith1.

Apathy is a dangerous thing as a football club. We could be drifting towards a big problem whilst not even caring that it’s happening.

‘How do you drop the club captain who has so much influence of the pitch with the other backroom staff and the owners?’

Are you honestly suggesting that Wes has so much power that he can decide whether he’s club captain or not? You make it sound like he’s Pogba. If that’s the case then the owners of the club needed to step in during the summer and back the managers decision to replace the captaincy.

In reality I don’t think Puel saw a need to change and made the mistake of keeping him captain. But even so club captains are droppable. Thats why you have a vice captain. Puels insistence on picking Morgan will eventually be his downfall.

‘Puel wanted to bring on Hamsa but could not for the last 20 minutes because of Harry's injury did not have enough subs.’

Puel should have started with Hamza. Absolutely no excuse for dropping your most in form player. It cost him dearly

Well that’s been happening long before Puel was appointed. We have been drifting towards a big problem the moment we won the title if I’m honest.

There are far deeper issues at the club than Claude Puel starting with Rudkin as DoF, too much influence from some of the backroom staff at times, no suitable replacement for Steve Walsh and a hit and miss transfer policy with millions wasted on dross.

We have been heading towards a big problem for a long time

Mersey - we don't want to play like that and lose every week, we'll end up playing the likes of Forest and Derby in league matches if that's the case.

I've been asking for a bit more adventure in our play, but that was absolutely not the game to do it in, we should have started with Choudhury and kept it tight and boring. We'd probably have got something from yesterday's trip.

I'll be disappointed if Claude doesn't start with 3DMs in the next three matches as it will show that he hasn't learned from experimenting with the formation, which would not bode well for progressing under him.

I'm still willing to see what happens over the next month or so before considering coming off the fence.

posted on 20/1/19

Oh and by the way if we play like that in our next match I expect us to get slaughtered.

posted on 20/1/19

I agree in parts Nuneaton. We need more adventure and we need to cause teams more problems. Defend from the front.

That doesn’t have to mean we play Morgan in such a stupid high line that means that any ball in behind is a goal!

I think we’re all asking for balance. I think it was the right formation yesterday, but executed incorrectly.

We should have sat deeper and stopped Wolves from using the channels and getting in behind. The front 3 tucking in to protect the midfield when defending.

posted on 20/1/19

That all sounds good Mersey but with the players we had on the pitch it ended up with Claude holding his head in his hands and euphoric Wolves fans.

I'm sticking with what I said, we should have played 4-3-3 with 3 DMs, kept it tight and hopefully nicked a goal. That would not have been as entertaining but I'd have had a happier bus ride back.

“ think we’re all asking for balance. I think it was the right formation yesterday, but executed incorrectly.”

Right formation wrong team selection and wrong tactics.

We go from playing 3 defensive midfielders and the protection of Albrighton on the right, to 2 CMs and no Albrighton - for no reason from a form perspective or tactical stance.

Switching tactics like this pointlessly is redundant and confusing, particularly when the tactical choices don’t marry up to the opponents on the majority of occasions.

Fans aren’t depressed because we are mid-table, I don’t think that many fans are depressed because we really could have been higher in this particular season had simple, correct pre-match choices been made...fans are depressed due to the fact that when considering that we are mid-table (there’s an argument that this is a reasonable expectation and achievement) and Puel’s contribution to this, there’s a feeling that the preposition ‘despite’ rather than the conjunction ‘because’ should be used.

posted on 20/1/19

The obvious choice was to play the most inform CM, one of the most consistent players this season in Albrighton and the one real creative outlet that we always have even when we are playing badly in Maddison. We did none of these. I lost track of where Gray and Ricardo were playing at one point and the two of them AND Simpson all seemed to be occupying space at one point in the first half.

😂

To the point I guess.

He has brought nothing to our club and really could not have done a worse job if he tried .
Any good results seem to be in spite of him,not because of him.
Just want him out before the damage he has done has an impact on how we start next season.
