TFM actually did do well at Palace. Weird myth he didn’t do well. And was doing very well at Fulham before his shoulder injury.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

21 apps in all competitions throughout the season for Palace.

8 so far for a struggling Fulham team.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

He got a shoulder injury at Fulham and has struggled to find fitness. It happens to young players on loan at a club who are in desperate need of a win - they can’t afford to carry players who aren’t 100% fit

Only saw TFM a few times for palace but in those games they were catastrophic at the back so hard to tell if he was a victim of that or part of the problem

In this day and age 15m.
Liverpool got 19m for Solanke. He wasn’t wanted
City got 22m for Diaz..he wasn’t wanted

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Both of which are practically kids and supposed to be talents too. They have potential on their side.

Look at both club's dealings when letting older players go. Clichy, Zabaleta, Lescott, Milner etc. Not so great value.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Darmian still has 5 yrs left...for me irrelevant whether they are kids. Neither have done absolutely anything to warrant that value but they got it. I think it’s not a great deal but there we go. I am fairly happy we are getting rid anyway but we need a top RB in the summer.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Darmian won't have resale value for Juve.

The kids you listed obviously will have.

Completely irrelevant
I dont think clubs buy players thinking how much we can sell them on for in the future plus I have made my point pretty clear and moved on from it

We probably shouldn’t buy any more Italians at United, because none have really succeeded at the club so far, it clearly means no other Italian ever with either. I think how well a player performs, that any other players of the same nationality or even continent will do the same, forever.

Of course they do, more so now than before too.

Good point, rosso. I forgot about resale. Though apprently it’s irrelevant.

So you honestly think Juve buy players to think about the resale value

Good one

Manc P, have you ever heard of the term "Logical fallacy"?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes thanks

Still don’t see what that has to do with my original point that I think we could have got a better deal however I’m fairly glad he is possibly going. If you guys are happy with the deal fair enough. I think we could have got a bit more....so what. I have given my reasoning as to why

Should have kept Daley Blind. Criminal how he was treated here under Jose. He was one of our best performers under LVG too.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It didn't help that he was an lvg signing

posted on 20/1/19

Resale value comes into it when negotiating the fee. That’s why Darmian’s is so low because he has none.

posted on 20/1/19

Definitely should have kept Blind, or at least given him a proper go in a midfield role.

If nothing else he was a great utility player, and he might actually have helped our central defensive problems this season.

A real shame we let him go.

Oh looks who's having a dig at me again? You really are a child. You jump on this all the time despite the wierd fact that I have kind of been proven right over the last 7 years. Ever since I brought that up way back then we've hardly done any better.

We've now got Rojo who is always injured or barely plays and is rubbish, Sanchez who has been a huge flop and now Fred who can't a game.

There is obviously nothing to suggest a S American player can't be a success at this club but we've had failure after failure after failure after failure.

Maybe the culture around our club is slightly different to that of Liverpool and City. These little nuances can happen in football which you can't quite explain.

It’s a pretty funny dig, to be fair.

Agreed. He was a very under rated player. Calm on the ball, good reader of the game and flexible too as he could play 3 positions well.

Jose was an idiot for not using him more and freezing him out. He was one of our better players under LVG too.

Not quite as funny when you add up all the transfer fees and wages of all those flops we've had.

A lot of them have come over and barely spoke the language too. That can't help them settle. Valencia has been here nearly 10 years and barely speaks English well. He won't even be interviewed in English after all this time.

posted on 20/1/19

Valencia is South American and not a failure

Would be a good article about nationalities/continents and who’ve been successful

How many Germans have succeeded? Italians? Africans? Japanese? Etc

posted on 20/1/19

Dutch is probably our most successful foreign nationality then French.

We should probably just stop signing foreign players seeing as we have so many that don’t succeed.
