According to Grand we stick with Llorente/Sterling and N’Koudou for the next 6 weeks
--------------------------------------------------------------------

No according to Grand the problem is approached from a business point of view like Levy will do and unless there is a really good target that offers us some value then you dont panic buy.

If your car needs to go into the garage for a week do you go and spend 5 or 6 grand on another one in panic? No of course you dont and Levy will not go and waste a few million quid on a panic all because of an injury or two.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What about if all 3 off your cars are the garage for 6 weeks and all you have to use is a clapped out old banger that is fit for purpose?

You get Don's bus.

Well I think we found out today nothing works

Anyway let me at least plough thru the list of possibilities that Thudd and Don have given me.

Right thats that list studied

seriously you know the difficulties and its not just a case of hiring a striker or two for 6 weeks any possible signings worth having will be negotiating 2 or 3 year contracts and you have to weigh the costs against the benefit you know that more than anybody

Don, I agree Levy needs to bring in a couple of first team players.
Of course the big question is who!
All the "cognoscenti" on here will be asking that!
Well, if we haven't been tracking players we want, Levy is failing yet again.
But with Delli also injured, the team is looking like a bunch of reserves.

Grand,

Tbh you couldn’t have seen the injury crisis coming but you could see the squad wasn’t up to a 4 competition season.

That’s the problem with having 5 injury prone players in the squad.

The summer wasn’t good enough in terms of sorting the squad out for this season.

Hopefully this summer we have a good look and sort it out

posted on 20/1/19

I don’t think you get my point Grand. The recruitment and strengthening should of been done last summer. Was an absolute shambles to not sign a single player. Yes we are going through a mini injury crisis, but if we had made the correct reinforcements, we wouldn’t have to be relying on a 33 year old Slouch upfront. Time to rectify it this window.

Nkoudou like a new signing

I dont entirely agree the general consensus of opinion pre season when we bought nobody was that we were hurtling towards oblivion and Don was one of the loudest voices.

Obviously that never happened we are still in all the competitions we started in despite no signings.

Yes we are in a bit of trouble with injuries but there is no way we are going on a panic buying spree because of it and if we did we would be stupid.

It took Poch long enough to get rid of the dross like Adebayor who was happily getting top wages for sweet fa and Levy wont stand for that sort of thing again.

If there are decent options to sign players that are a good long term squad addition then fair enough if not then we have to struggle thru with what we have and its not that bad IMO but panic buying is definitely not the sensible option

No Don I do understand you just love new signings.

This is probably our best season for 10 years. Still in every comp we started in WITHOUT buying anybody doesn't that say something to you?

If we had of signed in the summer we would have also sold as we dont have the money to have a squad of 110 so this amount of injuries would have had exactly the same effect on us its having now

Don is simply stating the obvious.
The Levy idiocy of last summer has now come home to haunt this team. With Alli now injured it is fast becoming a reserves side.
And it has to play in 4 competitions.
I was hoping we'd have a good run in the Chumps League......but not anymore.

Grand, we haven’t finished the season yet mate. I would wait until that happens before the “ I told you do” , we could still well finish outside the top 4 ( highly unlikely ) but With our horrendous injuries it’s not impossible. We could end the season potless again. I want the club to improve and push forward. Not signing a single player in the window isn’t pushing forward, it’s border line plain stupid and now it’s come back to bite us in the a** just as I predicted. Our players are running on their last legs and we have untold injuries. You honestly think we got a change now against Chelsea with all that forward line out ?

Exactly that mate. Levy and the boards ridiculous decision to not improve last summer was about as stupid as they come.

Just because we don’t agree with you, doesn’t mean we are insane. Any normal Spurs fan could see the squad needed freshening up last summer. You might not think it, but most of us do.

When are you going to join the real world Don?

We are NOT City we do not have an endless budget allowing us to keep the likes of Mahrez on the bench probably on 200k a week

THFC operate on a budget that allows us to keep going. We are also in debt for god knows how many millions on account of the new stadium. Just where is all this money for signing new players and "pushing us forwards" going to come from?

I assume your wife sorts out the finances in your house cos if its you mate I am really concerned for you.

I’m not going to change my opinion for nobody. Spurs should of made the appropriate reinforcements last summer and I said at the time it will come back to bite us, so we will see if that is the case or not. It’s hardly going well though is it when our side today resembled a Spurs reserve team. We got the win fantastic, but this won’t last With the team we ended the game with not a chance.

posted on 20/1/19

You ask your beloved Levy that grand. He’s the one that come out in an end of season statement with “ the stadium won’t impact our budget “ , it’s been made clear we have funds. You seem to think we are some sort of poverty stricken club without a pot to p*** in we have money, maybe not City or Chelsea money, but we have funds to pay for players if need be. Your man Levy said it in his end of season statement. No excuses whatsoever to not sign a single player and I can’t believe you are actually defending it.

Two players missing equals a reserve side? Are you serious?

Every other player on the pitch today barring Llorente has been a first team regular for near on two years and you think it looked like a reserve side.

Really? Come on Don be sensible.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

and just what do you expect him to say Don?

Let me see, right we have a new stadium but we are now totally skint and cant afford nothing. Right like he is going to say that

And he is not my man at all but he is a spurs man thru and thru who has led us into a place you only dreamed about 10 years ago but you are still complaining. WHY?

Did you think 10 years ago we would be in the CL 3 or 4 years on the trot? No you did not, but we are and guess who made that happen Don?

Did you think 10 years ago you would be looking at us moving into one of the best stadiums in the world? No you did not. How you still slaughter him I will never know

Absolutely zero reason Spurs can't get a better striker in on loan that is more effective than Llorente.

Moussa Sissoko, Harry Kane, Son Heung-Min, Victor Wanyama, and Lucas Moura. Alli also now missing!

Count them if you can .....That is 6 first team players missing.

So I will ask you the same question. Who?

Remember we dont want one cup tied for Carabo, FA Cup or CL. We dont want want who wants 200k a week cos we cant pay it. Please give me this endless list of names.

Also we dont want one that cannot play against his parent club that we might face while we are sorting out our injury crisis

I expect him to be honest grand instead of stringing the supporters along and that includes the ridiculous stadium fiasco. He upped the prices of season tickets promising we would be delivering our world class stadium at the start of the season and we are currently in Jan and not even close to moving in yet. I expect him to be honest to the supporters that fund his club and not lie to us all. I also expect him to back the best damn manager we have had since Bill Nicholson. Our CL rides have been great, but in 20 years Levy has delivered just 1 league cup. You might find that acceptable, but I don’t. I think we have terribly underachieved as a club down the years when you consider our history and size.
