Probably for the best in the long-term. We needed Moyes out and tbh we don't want Mike's standing here tarnished by a stint with Moyes at the wheel. Car crash appointment.

Hull been to an FA Cup final more recently than Liverpool. Shame they bottled it.
Funny how perception of Phelan has changed. I remember towards Fergie's later years he was scapegoatd by a fair few fans as a reason why our football had turned drab.
Generally speaking here, not aimed at you OP.

I mentioned this a few weeks back. He was the guy people slated almost as badly as Gibson and Fletcher etc

It was between 2011 and 2013 roughly where our style of play was bland and people thought Phelan was just some yes man who sat on our bench and offered nothing.

Exactly, if we’d kept phelan we might have had a better left back
I remember people slagging off the quality of footy (I was one of them), but I never blamed Mike. There may have been people reminiscing about the footy under Carlos Quiroz (I was one of them), but I never once used that as a stick to beat Mike Phelan.

Spoilt people. We did not appreciate what we had then. I never understand people saying we were not entertaining 1st season RVP was with us- I enjoyed it.
Your recent victory over The Arsenal in the FA cup stank tactically of Ferguson (ie Phelan). With this in mind, does this slightly devalue OGS’s stock?
(In that he’s relying on someone else to devise the gameplan)

Well, given the football we had a reputation and appetite for playing, I don't think it is unreasonable to demand more.
We should never allow our expectations to be lowered. What's happened up to now is a great example as to why.

You're the caant who backed Jose and thinks fellaini is a footballer, so you can't be patronising when others get things wrong.
You won't see this thou because you filtered me like a wimp.

Nope. It enhances it.
Does anyone downplay all the good stuff Guardiola does seeing as he's largely borrowed it from Cruyff?

As I started reading that I fully expected to disagree with whatever followed.
But I totally agree!
If Micky Phelan’s face was tarnished with Moyes’ jzz, I’d never be able to look at him the same again.
Absolute club legend.
I never slated Phelan, but I did comment we played the football that I enjoyed the most whem McClaren was there, and the best football when Queiroz was there, and that it went downhill after that.
