The reality is that we wanted James. Signing someone else after that would be a panic buy, and we could easily have ended up with someone like Edgar Cani, Cameron Stewart or Mo Barrow. If this had been the case then the same people complaining about us not giving up on James and working our way down a list would have complained that we didn't go all out for our first target.
The club have done the right thing here. It's just that it's not worked out for unforseen reasons.

Yep, totally this. 👍🏽👍🏽
The issue is money. We didn’t go for James until we had Casilla because we don’t have a war chest and didn’t know what we had in the bank until a deal for Casilla was sorted.
I was concerned we had eggs in one basket over James.... is there really not another winger that bielsa would not be happy with?
Last night the fault was purely with Swansea, we’d negotiated a deal and they should stick with it... but over the whole transfer window? You start early, with negotiations and have a cut off date to move after 2nd choice if you’re getting messed around. We didn’t do that because according to radz, there was no second choice. Why?
We’re top of the league with our best chance of promotion since we were relegated... and we’re two players down that haven’t been replaced. If we have no cash we have no cash, I’m not lambasting the owners, but it’s naive to say, our problems were just because we were messed around by Swansea.
I still think we will go up IF we avoid injuries to key players... but we’re more at risk today than we would have wanted on Jan 1... and the main reason is a lack of cash dictating our transfer policy.
«I would suggest that making sure you have the owners direct contact to by pass the chairman might be an idea.»
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well AR had a deal agreed with the owner, but the chairman didn`t want it to happen.
I suspect it will be hell over at Swansea after this window.
when you lose two midfield players, they needed replacing
________
Considering we have another midfield player who is now playing at full back and doing such a god job you could argue moving him back to midfield might be a mistake, you could argue that we are down three players in midfield making the signing of James more important.
Leeds get charged with going against the spirit of the game yet Swansea go and pull something like this
Agreeing a transfer, allowing the player to go off and take a medical but then stonewalling the player and club he is going to.
How is any of that in the spirit of the game?
“The issue is money.”
Really?!
How much should Leeds have offered?
By all accounts, it appears the deal was done, but the seller disappeared for the last 5 hours.
I respect the club is being managed on a fiscally responsible basis.
I just don’t agree that this deal fell through because of Leeds not willing to pay what was asked.
One has to wonder who it was that paid for James to fly from Swansea to Leeds. I assume us. Will we be reimbursed the cost of the ticket?

Don’t think you read past that first sentence Jonny, or you’d realise i wasn’t specifically referring to payment terms of the deal.
Swansea chairman has resigned. What a total $hitehouse he is.

I'm not so sure Sol, he brought them back from etc brink, attracted some good managers, played good football and took them to the Prem. Never easy with new owners.

I couldn't give a £uck about Swansea.
I'm only concerned about him scr€wing Leeds over on deadline day.
How did he screw Leeds over. He found out that he wasn't going to get any money until June, and that if deal was made permanent the fee was in fact going to be spread over 4 years, so he didnt go for it.
