We offered £5m.

posted on 1/2/19

He initially offered £5m up front in 3 equal installments plus future add ons if Leeds got promoted, taking the total to £10m plus. Swansea then propsed a loan until end of season with an obligation to buy if Leeds get promoted. Do some efficient research before making ill-informed comments. Dear oh dear oh dear!

Meanwhile, West Brom signed Holgate, Johanssen, Montero and Murphy and will be league favourites. Window wasn't a joke as we signed Casilla. Was a 2 steps forward 1 step back window.

No hiding the fact that Leeds people messed it up should have realised it was a no go 2 or 3 weeks ago and moved on to another target.

Only Leeds could f##k up a transfer after the player passes a medical, just like we'll f##k up promotion.

Don't forget we have this young Polish winger Bogusz so maybe he will get some impact substitute appearances now and surprise us all like Jack Clarke has.

Did Bielsa want those players? 'Cause that's the main factor which shaped our transfer window.

what the fook is this thread you silly fook

get fooking rid of it

If we miss promotion, we'll look back to this window, maybe not this player, but the fact we had a chance to bring in a few quality additions and failed.

Still think we'll be alright, just.

Leeds didn’t have the money” makes me chuckle. What was Radrizzani to do, chuck 750k in Swansea’s bank and HOPE they answered the phone and honoured the deal?

All things point to Swansea fevkkin us over.

Couldn't agree more.

I don't get why a section of our fans on here are aiming abuse at AR.

The deal was AGREED. The player was at Elland Road after passing his medical, then was made to wait for four hours while the powers at Swansea hid under their desks and ignored the phone.

AR did everything right. Deal done presumably to the satisfaction of both clubs and James himself, then everything fooked up by Swansea's owners/manager I'd guess.

But why didn't they have Jimmy Kebe on the line to sign up just in case this bizarre series of events occured???

I said before the window started, that we’ve been in strong positions twice before, had awful January windows, and fell away.

This window has been poor, fingers crossed it doesn’t cost us.

I heard Vydra was sat outside in his car, in fact somebody at the club confirmed that to be the case, anyhow, they agreed if something went wrong with the James deal, Vydra would sign instead, but and again, somebody at the club confirmed this, Radz and Orta didn;t bother to check that Vydra was in fact a veterinarian, so the chicken sandwich bought from the subway around the corner from ER as a gift offended Vydra so much he stormed off.

I take from this that Radz and Orta clearly support rape and murder, they have no idea how to run a football club.

I sometimes wish we had a decent manager and were at the top of the league, maybe then, and only then negative mud thrown at the club by the usual individuals would stop... oh hang on.

I think it's Swansea that's lost their integrity on this one. It's going to be very interesting to see how the lad performs for them after this. We can't blame Leeds for this one.

I will say the window has been ok. We got a keeper in and didn`t sell any of our players.

Even James agent said Swansea are to blame for the deal collapsing so why are you all blaming leeds?

If the OP followed Hay or Pope he would know that the fault all lies with Swansea. The lads agent has stated this as well.

Bring back meme, he makes more sense!

In the past we've been in strong positions, but as far as I can remember our position felt a bit "fortunate" as we'd played mostly poorly and got the results anyway. You can't do that over a full season, so the lack of reinforcements scuppered us.

This season the performances have been mostly top-notch -- even when we've lost.

The only things that may cause us problems are injuries to key players, especially to Pablo. Otherwise we should be good for auto if the team spirit and work rate continues.

If Pablo gets injured (more like 'when' sadly) we are really going to miss Saiz having not replaced him. In this respect, Brown is a real long-shot that might come good towards the end of the season.

The thing is, Bielsa's policy of only signing better than what we have limits the amount of back up options you can bring in. Any AM that would come in and be better than Pablo would cost serious, serious money, and most good level AMs don't want to come in and sit on the bench.

Say what you like about WBA 'strengthening' but most of their signings this window have been them replacing players who have left (certainly true of Montero and Murphy) with players who, in my opinion, aren't as good as those who left them.

That being said, Johansen and Holgate are good signings. Norwich and Sheffield United have stayed pretty much at the same level and, off the top of my head, Derby Middlesbrough and Bristol City haven't brought anyone in who makes me worried.

Meanwhile we have addressed our problem position by signing a Spanish international Real Madrid keeper. And yet people are here complaining!

If we’d paid £10m up front for James some would complain we had over paid or put the club at risk.

The pluses for this window are the keeper, the young Polish lad and keeping the players we really wanted to keep.

We’ve had worse windows by a long way.

Beat Norwich tomorrow and we will be asking who James is on Monday. Lose and it will be AR’s fault according to some.
