Sancho is definitely someone we should be in for, he looks special. If Fergie was still in charge he’d have been in for him no doubt.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Would he? I’m not so sure. I don’t think fergie would particularly like the direction we’ve taken since he retired, and the stupid way football has gone.

For EUR100m? That's the figure being reported as Dortmund's asking price (unsurprisingly, given he has four years on his contract).
Do you think that'd be a sensible gamble?

can't understand why we did not spend massively on him in january, he will be breaking the world transfer record in the summer, of that there is no doubt.

Why don’t we stop doing that and actually give youth a chance. What the point of having decent academy players if we are just going to spunk cash all the time at the next half decent overhyped player?

Yep, not really sure what is wrong with this sort of thinking. Some of our players that came from that 92 side have come out and said we, as fans, need to stop living in the past and forget about this united way. No one is saying we should not promote youngsters, that is part of this clubs DNA, but to do it blindly and just for doing it sake is bonkers. We do not have a genius manager tat the helm and won't be having one anytime soon to make mediocre players like John O'shea play great footy and win titles.

I’d agree there should be a balance, but I don’t think a 100m gamble on a player who’s promising but has had 1 decent season is a balanced approach. It shows we haven’t really learnt anything over the past few years.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
What a ridiculous argument, just because we've had poor recruitment over the last 5 years, does not, in any way mean that spending the money on top talent doesn't make any sense and we should gamble with youth. We just need to have better decision makers on transfers. Look at VVD. World's most expensive defender and he's going to bring Liverpool the title probably. Look at £500m city, they just broke the record points tally.
This isn't the 90's, you've got teams in the championship spending £15m on international footballers, never mind the premier league. You can't afford to be resting players and giving the likes of unknown youth players game time, because their opposite number will have a field day with them. City have Brazils starting striker and £50m Mahrez on their bench FFS.
The very very best will make it through, but those are the 1 in a 1000 players.
We need to spend better primarily, then play the youth when we've found the diamond in the rough like Rashford.

Seconded.
Vvd, was expensive because he was proven, and we saw what he added.
Sancho so far is a one season wonder. Nothing more. He may turn into a superb talent, but right now he’s only done it for 1 season. That’s a gamble.

He will be cheaper now as a one season wonder than he will be if he becomes a two season wonder. At that point, if Solskjaer has identified him as our man, it might be too late.

Otherwise there’s plenty of great players about that you don’t have to take outrageous gamble win. Robertson best left back on league, piisses all over our 30m obvious target in shaw

need him desperately. he's the real deal.
i remember regularly posting about the need to sign sane from schalke, well this guy is the same.
can't understand why we did not spend massively on him in january, he will be breaking the world transfer record in the summer, of that there is no doubt.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why don’t we stop doing that and actually give youth a chance. What the point of having decent academy players if we are just going to spunk cash all the time at the next half decent overhyped player?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
because we want to have a good football team???
every now and again a rashford will appear, but we can't go putting in nobodies. have we not learned from wellbeck, gibson, macheda, Powell, Adnan ... giving too many rubbish youngsters too many chances is one of the big reasons we have been so awful post saf. in fact we could have dominated europe from 08 onwards if we hade made some more big signings like tevez, instead of bringing in wellbeck.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Wow.
Epic failure to appreciate the very fabric of Manchester United Football Club here.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It is not failure, Rosso. You are out of your depth here. There is nothing wrong with that post, post 08, had Ferguson spent, we definitely could've gone on to greater things. Even Barcelona now spend big for christ sake.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Big money/marquee wage signings since Fergie left:
Fred
Matic
Lukaku
Sanchez
Mkhitaryan
Bailly
Schneiderlin
Depay
Falcao
Di Maria
Yeah, the answer to our problems lies in throwing money at superstar signings.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
well said rosso. It’s not really worked for us.

The right expensive signing
The right young player
Doesn’t matter if we spend or not - we just need the right players

For once you have said something sensible.

This list rapidly fell into the category of players not on the level we need...

Yes, it’s only when your scouting network is so shiiit that all you can see is targets that are slapped in your face like sancho.
Otherwise there’s plenty of great players about that you don’t have to take outrageous gamble win. Robertson best left back on league, piisses all over our 30m obvious target in shaw

Rosso you are having a mare here. Bar Kante, I do not believe one of those guys is going to take us to the next level. And how much do you think Zaha is worth now- chump change?
