Used to be very tempting. I remember the bloke next to us at Arsenal vs Blackpool years ago put £20 on Blackpool, they won but he got back the entire cost of the day for himself and his kids

Nowadays we'd never get odds that good because we're facking useless all the time

Never mate would just feel dirty doing it, but can understand the thought of getting something back if they did lose soften the blow

posted on 2/2/19

Nothing wrong with that at all
Like you say it softens the blow when you dont really want to win the bets you placed

Yeah guilty as charged , my mates can't understand it , I call it an Irish bet ( No offence to our friends over the water ) but I really think sometimes were feckin cursed.

Don, I never back against Spurs, but I sometimes put a punt on teams like United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal, so if they win, I also pick up some dough, that softens the blow somewhat.

This weekend I have both Spurs and Chelsea in the same accumulator to win.

There's only 2 teams on the planet that I'll never include in a coupon. Arsenal and England.

There's no way I can stay objective when either of those 2 are involved in a game.

I almost came to blows with an Arsenal-supporting mate during our 2-0 over Chelsea, after he started egging Chelsea on for a last minute goal so his BTTS bet could come in.

Always do it. Don't want it to happen but if it does at least its not all bad news.

Also, when England played Croatia, at 1-0 up I put a grand on Croatia to qualify. Didn't want it to happen but was willing to lose a grand to see England in the wc final.

Been a ST holder for my 7th year this season, have met some great friends who sit around me. But, none of them like me betting against Spurs and always take the p1ss

some interesting comments. My dad, lifelong spurs fan, goes mad when I bet against them!

I’m getting good at it now though, I can almost sense spursyness. I can feel it today. Hope my spursy senses are wrong though!

I did it on the credit card. That's how bad I am. I can't remember the odds but profit was about £1200. Not as great as you may think.

Don't bet and don't think I could do it

I do this all the time!

For some reason, in my head, me betting against something is apparently more likely to make it happen.

Crazy, seems terrible odds but obviously it softens the blow of us losing

My mate put some cash on Arsenal who were 1-0 down to Barca. Think he got something great like over 20/1 which I thought you'd get closer too.
