Make them full time and declare their team. That way we will have a broad spectrum of refs and only the best will be kept in rather than what job they do.
Why anyone thinks an re teacher would be a good ref is beyond me

Var ain't perfect, but it'd make the honest mistakes excuse much more difficult to hide behind, i'm all for it, foreign ref's ain't the answer although it would be an improvement over the current lot.

Our referee was from Luxembourg and he had an excellent match. Thing I noticed was his positioning. He was always close to the play but usually just being the ball.
If you watch our refs they are constantly in the way of the attaching team...usually just a few yards in front of the guy with the ball.
Seems to be that the foreign refs understand that they are there to referee the match but not get in the way of the play. They Scottish refs seem to think that the priority is just to be in the best position for them.
They are badly trained and that all comes from the man who runs the show despite no longer being employed here.
