Roofe dropped.

We had 17 shots today and scored 1...... only 4 on target. Tells you we are getting the chances but not putting them away.. story of the last few months. Roofe done well, but a fit Bamford should be starting as our main striker..... not sure he’s fully match fit yet though.

We aren’t cutting teams open like we were though. Lots of pot shots and half chances. Not often you watch a game and think ‘how haven’t we scored’ anymore for me.

Lacking a no.10 or Gradel type player.

Jansson hit the post, Bamford missed a sitter from the rebound, Roofe had a gilt edge double chance to beat Randolph and couldn’t.. they were as clear as you get from a chance perspective... we had the usual bunch of half chances and a few goal mouth scrambles on top of that.

They had a couple of shots from distance a couple of crosses flashing across the goal and two headers from corners in their good spell in the first half. Scored with pretty much their only venture into our half in the second.

... I can assure you there were a fair few ‘how did that not go in’ moments today... but I take your point about us in general

Today was actually one of those days in fairness.

But they aren’t as frequent now.

I thought Roofe was actually pretty good in that role. He had a bit more space to run with it and his link up play was good. Still got into goalscoring positions and should have scored. Bamford movement was good and he should have scored.

Attack wise, that was our best performance since Derby. Created better opportunities and looked more threatening. If the two strikers had scored their great chances, we would have won and I would expect them to score more often than not. It's the right time to bring Bamford in, we need to threaten more than we have and win games.

Roofe should be played as a central striker or nowhere.

Exact result of a very poor January.

Too many players who aren’t fully fit, too many players playing out of position.

Recent form is poor.

38 shots in 2 games, 2 goals, 185 mins to score them both. Need to do something offensively and quick.

Has nothing to do with January.

Of course it is, we lost a number 10 and didn’t replace, now having to play players out of position.

Don’t go up and it’s all down to the appalling January

Hard to disagree with that LIW. Like I said, I thought Roofe did well today. But if Saiz was here, he wouldn't play there.

Best

Roofe for three seasons, average, in and out of team.

This season, been played in the right the position and guess what, he’s become a really good player.

Hard to disagree with LIW.

Roofe has been excellent as a striker, and hasn’t excelled in any other position.

We’ve been down the square pegs in round holes route before, doesn’t work.

Be interesting to see what Bielsa does on Wednesday with his line up.

Like I said, Roofe was good today. But I think long term, it's a bit of a weird formation. He wasn't really even a number 10, it was 2 up front. Then when Roberts came on, it was even stranger. First time Bielsa has changed his formation other than 3 at the back

Roofe and Bamford together makes sense. Good to see both of them getting chances. Early days in this partnership, but the worry is a general inability to get shots on target from great positions. How many touches do players need before they strike the ball? It was telling today that Phillips scored, and our next best effort was from Pontus.
However, we showed that we can be more direct, play more inside the opposition box, and vary our style. Courageous choices from Bielsa today, but for me, Clarke and Harrison are not yet ready for the run in. Shackleton and Pablo are, though.

I wouldn’t be banking on Clarke, could be something underling and could explain why he struggles fitness wise.

It's not hard to disagree with LIW at all. Roofe hasn't played 10 because Hernandez wasn't fit. Bielsa said himself that it was Clarke came in for Hernandez.

Roofe has played there because Bielsa wanted to experiment with him and Bamford together.

We only ‘tried’ Roofe there, because the club failed to bring in a no.10. We didn’t ‘try’ Roofe in this position when we had Saiz, because the team were playing well and winning games.

I think Bielsa is trying to fill the void and force square pegs into round holes, because he has no other option.

Completely agree. Too many players changing positions because we don’t have enough players.
January window has left us short

Not interested in discussing the January transfer window again. Far too much been made of it. Sick and tired of hearing "if the club don't go up..."

Stop getting your excuses in early and be positive. We could win the World Cup and some on here would moan.

If you want to complain then complain about the poorish form, which is separate entirely from whatever your opinion might be on January.

Bamford looked sluggish to me, he’s probably a few games of match sharpness. Bad miss from the rebound from Jansson header.

Roofe was one of our better players today but should have scored as well... good double save from Randolph but shouldn’t have been given the chance to save the first one.

Not saying playing Roofe and Bamford can’t work but it will take time to gel.. few times today they made the same run so will take time for them to form a relationship ... if bielsa sticks with it to give them a chance to.

Agree though that Roofe at 10, reeks of trying to get your best players on the pitch, regardless of where you play them.

Two things changed the game today, Hernandez coming on... and pulis making defensive changes to protect the lead, helped us pile on the pressure

There's debating and then there's being a broken record.

I also wouldn't call what you do debating.

Fair enough
