Son & Maddison Incidents...

Both decisions were clearly wrong, Spurs was a 100 per cent nailed on penalty. Cannot wait for VAR to come in next season, could be worth another half a dozen points to Spurs.

I thought Maddison one was pretty soft and he had no obvious route to goal. But Son one was a more obvious dive

I thought both were dives.

They weren't identical incidents though.

yeah both looked dives to me

Neither were clear dives or clear pens IMO. Contact in both cases.

What is annoying is the different outcomes. I don't mind Sons not being given if Maddisons isn't, or both being given. At least its consistency.

They are identical in the sense there was contact but not enough to go down. Maddison did a good job in not making it look like a dive. Son's was OTT which counted against him and earned the

The referee made a mistake with the Maddison one, which was a clear dive. He got the Son one correct. Luckily for him they didnt score the penalty.

"They are identical in the sense there was contact but not enough to go down."

But the referee is having to make a judgement in real time on that. The players are both making out the contact is enough to go down.

How can you blame the referee and not the players?

Here's TOOR to tell us what the decision should have been.

Hilarious the amount of scousers on here claiming Son dived when Salah has been winning penalties for fun with less contact and they defend him to the hilt.

You can't have it both ways.

You disagree? That's confusing as above you agreed.

No, it's not about that. It's about your binary take on matters.

The Son incident is one of those I mentioned recently where there's no right or wrong - different referees will perceive it differently.

We know you don't understand that concept, though.

Once he dived when he wasnt fouled, he should have been booked for it but didnt get the penalty. The other times he dived he was fouled and therefore got the penalty. Son attempted to go over Maguire's planted leg, it was a clear attempt at cheating.

This.

A touch on the shoulder is apparently a cast iron pen (though they're not sure what the actual offence was) yet being touched on the shin is not.

Son had his shins clipped and went over, Maddison accidentally grazed legs with JV and fell on his arce.

Both were soft but Son's was more a penalty than Maddisons, and I've seen the same referee give Mo Daley penalties for far less.

But Michael Oliver is a closet Pool fan, so it's no surprise to see him gifting penalties to Liverpool and the opponents of their rivals, while at the same time ignoring clear penalties to Pools rivals.

The officials do the opposite to what they think they saw, they should get more decisions right that way. The Zaha, Milner and Origi offside decisions really do question the ability or integrity of the linesmen also, absolute farcical decisions over the past few games.

As I said earlier on Sky the panel of x players said Sons was a nailed on pen and on MOTD the panel of x players said it was a clear dive.

VAR will make things as clear as mud.

List the many penalties he's won 'for fun' from diving.😀

In fairness, I'll take the Newcastle incident as a prime example of hypocrisy from several people on these boards.

Spurs have had 12 players and counting, booked for diving in 3/4 seasons under Poch, who has described diving as a 'tactic'.
Spurs need to get their house in order.🙂

Not sure stats like that are helpful - look at the Rose booking for example.

All clubs are at it.

As I said, he needs to list the many penalties Salah has won.
What happens is, Salah is perceived to go down easy in one game, then idiots start to quietly cobble in every penalty he's been awarded lately, to create a narrative that suggest he habitually dives and is awarded penalties, which is obviously a lie, and utter nonsense.
It's simply being used to deflect from a culture of simulation that seems to exist at Spurs.😀

I don't think it's a complete lie - I think he throws himself down at most opportunities.

But then again, lots of players do!

You're just as bad imo, making out Spurs have a bigger issue than anyone else.
