We may be 2-0 down but you’ve got to remember that away goals count double, so one goal for us in Paris levels up the tie. Then we can sit back and counter them and sneak one on the break to make it 4-0 on the night.
Not upset as well. Did not expect anything from the game besides a comparison of where we are and where we need to be.
People forget PSGs spending makes City seem sensible.
I am more concerned about the Scousers this weekend. With Martial injured, I am very worried

When did Chelsea become scousers?
Agree with the OP - it always going to be a tough ask and I saw enough in that first half to feel that we're moving in the right direction.
Jose would have had us camped out in our own half knocking long balls to Fellaini.

We're not even playing them on the weekend....
I think we looked reasonably comfortable until the injuries to Lingard and Martial inevitably ruined the teams balance and allowed PSG to come onto us in the knowledge we couldn't counter.
It was a tight and cagey affair but after the first we had a very wobbly 15 minutes. Reminded of Jose's days tbh, the defence simply isn't good enough.

I don't think the defence was overly too much at blame. Well not Bailly and Lindelof. The first goal came from a corner where Matic allowed his man to run off him, and the second, Ashley Young wasn't tight enough.
But yeah agree that we were comfortable up until the injuries

Plus, their first goal was a defensive lapse from a corner, it’s not like they were ripping us apart and it was only a matter of time (although they did step it up 2nd half).
Can’t really blame anyone for the second, agreat ball across the box and one of the quickest and most clinical players in the world running onto it, what can do?
I'm frustrated at the ridiculous bad luck with Lingard & Martial both getting injured at the same time. It was an even game before that. You could tell PSG were a little worried from the first moment when Marquinho should have been carded and the subsequent tactical fouls they did after.
After the injuries we had Rashford vs 5 defenders and it was sad that we could not create anything but not surprising. It is at least clear that Alexis, Mata & Lukaku are not a strong bench at this level, they did nothing.
Ref and Var were a joke too.
But we collapsed after conceding a soft goal, that was the more worrying part. Experienced teams would park the bus for a bit because a 1-0 loss it not a disaster but 2-0 is pretty much game over.
So much naivety out there last night but Ole is right that we looked like we haven't played these sorts of games in a while.

I think the injuries and the collapse are all part of the squad not being fit enough.
Little errors started creeping in after 30 mins and you could see that the high energy game was taking its toll.
That's okay though, it can be easily resolved before next season.

You'd still be 2-1 down on aggregate if you only score one goal in Paris.
I think there's a lot to be optimistic about for next season still, but there does need to be personal changes.
-Lukaku(can't see him ever fitting into Ole's system, need a more dynamic player)
-Sanchez(waste of space)
-Mata + Young (greatly reduced roles at minimum)
-Matic(good little resurgence but not good enough)
We need a new RW desperately, as much as I like Lingard
Agree OP, not too upset with the result - was not expecting to go through. The bigger downer for me were the injuries, because they put a serious question mark over the Chelsea and Liverpool games.
PSG didn't create much and scored 2. I am sure we will create enough chances to score 3 in Paris. We just need to be as clinical as we were lets say to Arsenal away.

Its hilarious that PSG having 2 shots more than us is being played like a huge thing and we were terrible 2nd half. If we play our A game we can cut any team apart.

People make it sound like we have no chance to go through. Look at how Chelsea stats and how they won it. Efficiency is king. Wenger is deluded.
The second goal though, the way Mbappe just burst passed both defenders when he was miles behind them only to jump ahead in the last moment to score the goal though. That pace was something else.

He's just another level, to think he's 19 is crazy. He already has the same amount of CL goals as R9 Ronaldo.
No shame in losing to PSG.
As your manager said, they are a step up compared to pretty much every team in the PL.
Mbappe is an incredible talent, and they had real quality back to front.
Only concern from last night for United are a couple of potential injuries.
Yeah Martial and Lingard will be a big loss if they are out. We just dont have the ample replacements. PSG lose Cavani and Neymar, they have Di Maria, Mbappe and Draxler still
I think the most interesting tie is the Spurs Dortmund one, mainly due to the fact that goals at neutral venues count 1.5x. So 3-0 to Dortmund tonight gives them a 4.5-0 lead to take to Borrusia. But because away goals count double, Spurs would only need to score 2 times and then another time where the ball is half over the line and half not and they would be 5-0 up and going through. But if the ball is only a quarter over the line then the tie would be all square and going to penalties. All this because Spurs are too lazy to build a stadium.
