If we get past Dortmund I’d love the winner of Roma v Porto in the QF. You’d have to make us comfortable favourites for that.

Why are Bayern EXPECTED to progress? Most unbiased football fans would see a fairly balanced tie that could go either way, no? Didn’t Spurs just smash Dortmund, the Bundesliga leaders, yet the Prem leaders can’t do the same to Bayern?

Other than that, good article

I don't get you Sandy. Unless you have bipolar??

Until we started to win the first of the last four games, you are a merchant of doom and gloom, even criticising Poch for the cup exits etc, and suddenly you have switched to being pro-Poch and excited about us?

Honestly, since I have stopped playing football, I now understand why players used to say fickle fans.

It's all good that you are optimistic now, but the annoying is the blowing hot or cold only after couple of defeats?

Oye of little faith!

Bayern are a very experienced European outfit, and Liverpool have lost their last five away ties in Europe, yes they got to the final last year, but they had a very easy run to the final. Bayern over the two legs will be to strong. Spurs beating Dortmund will have no bearing on the outcome of the Liverpool v Bayern tie.

It`s an opinion based game, being a football fan, of course I was unhappy, as you should have been, about getting knocked out of two cup competitions in four days. I wasn`t going to come on the board full of the joys of spring, saying Spurs had a great week, after losing to Chelsea and Palace in four days. I say it as I see it.

I am giving the team praise for their excellent form in the Prem in 2019. Not sure what you expect me to say.

Absolutely nothing to do with blowing hot and cold, if the team wins, I praise them, if they lose limply like against Palace, I will have a go at them.

So no chance for Liverpool then? Whilst I agree the matches do not depend on each other I’d say it’s a reflection of their respective leagues. When you comment on Liverpool’s easy run to the final, is this from a position of experience... when was Spurs last easy run to a European final? In fact, ANY run to a European final? Oh... ok

You took a comment about Liverpool’s very convenient run in CL twisted to Spurs and you think you made a point?

I prefer this Sandy. The one that isn't overhyping the team or completely ruling out winning anything. Being optimistic but cautious, I like it.

Spurs have been in plenty of European finals in my lifetime, so no need trying to point score. I didn`t say Liverpool had no chance, I merely said I thought Bayern would come out on top over the tie.

I have always been like that, just some supporters on the all the boards wish to construe my posts to suit their agendas at times. I said at the start of the season I fancied Spurs for the title, that was not saying they would definitely win it. It was taken as a given by lots of supporters that was what I said, and I didn`t.

Just for the record, I still fancy Spurs to go close to lifting the title this year, or if not this, then next year.

You did tell me not too long after the cup defeat that we had no chance of winning the title, despite having a great chance to close the gap on the leaders, though I suspect you were letting your frustration at Poch do the talking.

I think we can do well in the CL...I have actually put a bet on us to win or make the final. Less optimistic in the title race but hopeful. Still well aware however we could go trophyless again this season.

Yeah very easy run. Man City the favourites, Roma who put out Barcelona and then Real in the final. It doesn't get much harder than that.

Like Man City who have next to no European Pedigree, and Roma even worse, there last and only European trophy was nearly 60 years back, then finally losing very easily to a side Spurs beat and drew with. Absolutely nothing hard at all about Liverpool`s run last season.

Yeah Man City are woeful and a lucky draw. Also we should have played the better team in Barcelona rather than Roma, no idea why UEFA let Roma play instead.

It`s cup football, Spurs won and drew with the eventual winners, so in theory Spurs were probably the best team in the competition.
