Joachim Anderson (Sampdoria) is the CB we were linked with last week
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Don’t get the point of buying another young CB.

We’ve got two ready to go already
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah Fair point..... I guess the only question mark is whether Foyth is ready/ good enough.... who knows... Seems like Poch trusts him. I guess with Dier coming back its less urgent than doing something with the midfield
----------------------------------------------------------------------
See big things in Foyth and Sanchez but not sure about either as a starter at the moment if we want a solid back line.

IMO Bale is exactly the type of player that could move us from nearly men to winners. Fans forget how good he was and still is. World class player who could play for any team in the world. Fans saying they wouldn't have him back make me laugh
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He's so good he isnt even a guaranteed start in a Real team that cannot beat Girona at home.

People who think the Bale that left Spurs is the same Bale at Madrid make me laugh.

He has done nothing of note for a long time now

I'd welcome him glady but would prefer other options and if we are talking a swap for Eriksen than it would make even less sense to take Bale

I'm okay with either of them playing alongside Verts or Toby in a game against lesser opposition.

Outs: Toby, Eriksen (obviously wouldn't want either to go but may happen), Lamela, Janssen, GKN, Aurier, Wanyama

Ins: Isco (if Eriksen goes), Dembele replacement, home grown CM, Chilwell, Wan Bissaka, Zaha
----------------------------------------------------------------------

You do know this is not fantasy football. No way will seven be leaving, and five be coming in.

As much as I see the argument for the need of experienced players to get us over the line, I also believe that you cannot have enough good young players. I stress the word good, as in ones who are pushing for a first team place.

For example, The fact we have Sanchez and Foyth takes a lot of the blow out of Toby potentially leaving. I think a lot of fans here would be a lot more worried if we didn't have those two. Winks has come in and made us largely forget Dembele has even been sold (with help from Sissoko, I'll give you).

If we bought Brooks, straight away Lamela and Moura would be looking over their shoulders knowing that further inconsistencies in their performance would leave their position in the team vulnerable to a young and hungry player who has already shown his class for Bournemouth against the best opposition in the league. Same with Wan Bissaka with Trippier, I think Aurier does not have Poch's full trust because of his rashness.

Potentially I'd look at swapping an ageing and injury prone Rose with Chilwell also.

The only players Spurs should be swapping Erikson with would be Messi/Ronaldo/Neymar/Mbappe/Rooney/Pogba

Looks like I've missed out on a lively debate!

I haven't read all comments, but if the OP's questions is would we accept a straight swap. I agree, if Eriksen is hell bent on leaving then I would accept the swap. Bale wouldn't (and couldn't) expect to get the same salary in the UK as he's getting in Spain. His stock has reduced, so has his ability to demand exorbitant wages.

As for whether he'd add to the team's chances of winning. that's a no brainer....of course he would.

In 2013 we signed Soldado, Eriksen, Chiriches, Lamela, Chadli, Paulinho and Capoue (7).

We sold Bale, Huddlestone, Livermore, Parker and Dempsey (5).

Not saying it went well by the way, just that it's not beyond the realms.

Not sure if this is a strange wind up or just a ridiculous comment.

if eriksen leaves for a few bob it certainly makes it more likely especially with some of the dross we have, the fact the squad does need a bit of a freshen up and that we've missed out in the last two windows.

I don’t even think Ed Woodward would touch Bale now, and he’s wanted him for years. No chance Levy sanctions a transfer for Bale.
