In what respect promotion?

We are not guilty of anything. It’s irrelevant where the money goes unless it goes back to Leeds United.

I was waiting for a points deduction, still it won't matter, play offs at best. 👌😂

200k fine for breaking a non existent rule.

The problem is now that the EFL are saying effectively that leeds have done something wrong and potentially other clubs could feasibly ask for a tougher sanction.

I hope club just pay and get on with it.

What an utter farce.

Good luck in your bid for fastest relegation in history.

I was never worried.
Also the bookies never adjusted their odds for us winning the league or promotion which is massive.
I would appeal for sure.

Paying a £1 fine is an admission of guilt.
I would appeal any fine.

You might want to read the joint statement.

I clearly don’t agree with the club.

I understand why the club have said this, a £200,000 is nothing compared to a points deduction.
However I think they are wrong.

Liverpool fan in peace.

I think it's a joke that Leeds are being fined over this. The regulation as cited in the article is broad in definition and the EFL - technically - could cite it as justification to punish any other club if they disagree with something.

Before "spygate", no regulation said Leeds could or could not do it. Instead of punishing the club, the EFL could have just created a new rule and told Leeds that if it happens again, there would be a consequence.

If I were a Leeds fan, I would be upset about the decision and Leeds should tell the EFL to "do one" and take it to court. Having to pay a 200k fine for a bogus rule is akin to embezzlement.

Some sense at last. Thank you pool.

It’s a game of football not chess. We all know how teams play and their strengths and weaknesses.
However that’s irrelevant we did nothing wrong.

This is why I have got a bit disenchanted with the beautiful game in recent years .

The sanction is peanuts but the principal is immense- only our club could find itself fined for breaking no hard and fast rule.

I hope the idiots have ironically done us a favour and from here on in we devour this league and spit it out and move on to the PL in May.

It’s bollox, we all know it’s bollox, they all know it’s bollox.

It’s just a plea bargain. Their lawyers and our lawyers have sat round a table and thrashed something out that appeases them so they can have appeared to show their teeth and let’s us get away with a fine... that in the grander scheme of things is 10 weeks wages for bamford.

We have to make a statement saying we’re sorry for being naughty Boys for breaking a rule that didn’t exist... and we won’t do it again. And we have to thank the football league for being so fair and wonderful. The quid quo pro, will be that this is the end of the matter.

If we dispute it, it rumbles on as an unnecessary distraction, and we head into the end of the season with them threatening us with a points deduction.

Sometimes you just have to take your medicine for the greater good... even if the pill is bitter and hard to swallow. Pardon me while I mix my metaphors.

They are playing poker with no cards.
A points deduction is illegal.

Milky that's my take on it with the exception that the points deduction was like Promo states impossible as no specific rule was broken.

The club have actually been quite astute as they have took it on the chin where actually it was MB who admitted to the accusation against him but made them the EFL look a bit silly by saying he did not realise he had done anything wrong also inadvertently he announced to the world just what a real coach does unlike celebrity Frank.

That 200k will hurt us a lot less than what 6 points from our next couple of games will hurt them

This is when we need Cellino. He would have a few choice words..................

To be honest it’s rumbled in too long for me to recall what penalties they could enforce... I figured this good faith rule was a catch all and they could make it up as they went along. But they could have said the scale of the admission was unprecedented and put a ridiculous figure on the fine, but agreed to reduce it dramatically if we bit the bullet quickly.

I’ve been involved in a hefty contract case before worth several million and like all negotiations the parties start miles apart and the lawyers haggle away at it until someone blinks. Everybody knows who holds the cards and the cards they had were the ability to drag it out and threaten worse sanctions. We needed a quick resolution, this lets them save face and us move on.

It sucks but it’s better that it’s buried.

I'd put money on Bielsa volunteering to pay the £200k that the club has been fined over this.

He's that kind of guy!

Corrupt disgusting organisation. Hope we go up never to return

The only thing the Leeds fans can do is refuse to spend any money inside the away grounds of those that voted against us. Make them pay their own fine

Taken from someone on facebook.

It's peanuts if we get promoted. Don't want any more off the field shenanigans distracting from what needs to happen on the pitch. Accept the fine and move on.
