Defense is a shambles but that can slightly be blames on us losing Holding and then Bellerin. Holding looked like he was doing very well for us and was integral in that 22 game unbeaten run.

He goes out injured and in come Kos and we look even more clueless at the back. IMO Kos is a faking chit captain and is way past it.

It's a shame Emery has not been backed in the transfer window but i will give him at least another season.

Summer will be a very interesting time at the Emirates. Cech, Welbeck, Ramsey, Lichsteiner will all be leaving with the likes of Ozil, Monreal, Eleney Kos, Mustafi also in the firing line. If even 75% of the leave our wage bill problems will be completely gone.

Trophy-dodging managers are all the rage in the PL at the moment.

We've all seen what Emery has done at his past clubs. He deserves at least 3 solid cracks at the transfer market before I can judge him.

Made an article on this a few days ago.

I am not convinced at all yet. Defensively we are probably at our worse.

Torreira has gone from playing DM to further up the pitch and as a result giving us no protection

Our attacking play is very one dimensional- attack via Kolasinac

Team selection is all over the place. How can you start clans, Guendouzi and Torreira all together even against some of the lesser teams

Then you have the Ozil situation

How can you start *Xhaka

posted on 18/2/19

Xhaka is playing because we haven’t got other options than Ramsey or Ozil and Emery doesn’t like both. It’s actually strange that we cannot play Ozil even against Bate Borizov what has Ozil done to deserve being frozen out.

PSG players were up in arms to get Unai sacking so the guy must be either bad in man management or he’s just stubborn like Wenger but unlike Wenger he’s unforgiving Uncle from your mother’s side.

We desperately need GK to challenge Leno, one commanding tall CB has to be aggressive baster in the mould of Sol Campbell.

We also need RB as a priority and must be aggressive and athletic baster in the mould of Kyle Walker etc.

We need to get crafty little midfield magicians in the mould of either Silvas of Man City.

We are dying for a out and out wingers in the mould of Koman or Dembele or Sane or Sterling etcand then we might start to feel like we can challenge, otherwise I doubt Kroenke has appetite to back the manager.

Got no issues with Xhaka starting but you can't have all 3 of them starting in the same team.

Most concerning thing is that the football has become worse

Far from convinced by him but want to give him time regardless really. As long as he gets top 6 this season then back him in the transfer window and judge him on next season.

posted on 18/2/19

Regardless of whether he has taken over wenger, coming 6 is unacceptable for a club of our size

posted on 18/2/19

For a club tour size, yes.

For the squad you have, no.

Reason why Guen is starting so many games is simply because Ramsey is leaving and most likely so i Ozil.

Why play players who will not be at the club in 6 months time.

Because at present they are still Arsenal players and give us creativity in midfield, We barely create anything with the midfield trio of Xhaka, Gwen and Torreira. I'm actually worried about Thursdays 2nd leg, if we concede 1 away goal we will need 3, will be very tricky to score 3 goals without a creative midfielder.

Not happy with it, but wouldn't consider it a sackable offence.

Sari is on his last legs at Chelsea and if Ole doesn't get cl football he will most probably be gone also

Should be no different for Emery.

We need to start acting like a big club. Not winning the Europa and coming 6 is a failure

It would be weird not to have doubts, but this season was always likely to be a stabilising one rather than a big leap forward.

The Ozil and Ramsey situations have been a massive cloud over the club this season. With our small squad it is hard to get through a season with two attacking players the manager doesn't trust.

Injuries and an ever changing defence has meant no consistency at the back. Again, a lack of trust in the defenders avaialable has led to playing 3 at the back and/or 3 midfielders to cover the weaknesses.

Auba and Laca together hasn't worked brilliantly, although they are both having good individual seasons.

This summer will be very interesting, a lot of players will be leaving and a lot are needed. Next season will be when we should expect to see improvements and if they don't come then you can really start questioning Emery.

It is right to adjust ambition short term when you replace a manager who has been at the club for over 20 years and built the squad to his desires.

Replacing Wenger was more than just replacing a manager the whole structure has changed, mentalities have to change, wage bills have to be repaired etc.
Of course you are going to have 'double moralities' if you are a fair person.

Not convinced but it was always going to be difficult replacing Wenger after 22 years. Unless our form goes off a cliff then he deserves next season and to bring in more of his own players. His personality is a bit dour. I don't think he's an elite manager but with where we were and our transfer budget we wouldn't be able to attract an elite manager.

I agree, I don't think we would have been able to get an elite manager, especially with our limited finances (rumours are that some turned down the job once they found out our budget).
Having said that, I think we could have done better. Jardim and Favre are just two examples. They are not perfect, far from it but at least they are known for playing positive football and are keen on developping youngsters which would have help with our finance.
I really blame Gazidis for not doing any due diligence when appointing Emery because there is nothing of what we currently see at Arsenal which hasn't happened in his previous clubs.

Just utter garbage you are writing here.

Koscielny came back into a weakened defence with numerous other injuries and has been pretty excellent overall, he looks as quick and sharp as he ever has done, maybe you should watch the rehabilitation documentary on Arsenal.com. Remember how long he has been out for as well? He was injured shortly before the World Cup for f()cks sake.

Mustafi is a far inferior player both defensively and when he's on the ball, if i have to watch him play another useless long ball to nobody gifting possession away like he does 10x every game i don't know how much longer i can cope.

Holding had been our best defender up until he got injured so i hope to see him paired with Koscielny + a new CB when he returns.

Was watching Liverpool yesterday and somethings really jumped out at me. First of all, there is no player on that team that is really a "super star". Secondly, they are a well coached both mentally and tactically. Most of all they played against one of the best teams in the world and looked like they expected to win, even though they didn't!

They had players who were energetic and aggressive who tackled hard and were always moving on and off the ball. Finally their manager, who some regard as a clown, was very "into" the game from the sidelines, and his energy and confidence has translated into the team.

Then I thought of Arsenal with their slow paced, timid performances week after week, and a manager on the sidelines who just appears as though he wishes he was somewhere else!

Major overhaul is needed in ownership, scouting, coaching and manger talent, as well as to the the on-field product is badly needed, before things get much better.

Don't disagree - but Klopp's Liverpool was pretty average and inconsistent until he had time to mould it into his image. We should give Emery the same chance.
