Mourinho didn't shackle Pogba
———
Of course he did. It was tantamount to slavery.

posted on 19/2/19

What Mourinho did was akin to putting him in a straight jacket and tying him to a chair on the pitch.

Solskjaer is allowing him to run free and naked, with wild abandonment.

Mourinho didn't shackle Pogba from attacking. He signed Matic specifically so that Pogba could attack more. That's another thing Mourinho did, sign players to further help get more out of Pogba.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Again nonsense. Pogba demonstrably plays further for ward now.

Yep, and played Groot instead.

Terrible manager.

It's not nonsense that Mourinho signed Matic to give Pogba more attacking freedom.

He actually did at the end. You can't even get that right.

And this might have worked had Jose not given Pogba restrictions on attacking.

Mourinho has been talking up managing in Ligue 1. Not sure Monaco will be interested, though.

At the end. What about the rest of the time?

Pogba played more offensively for Man Utd than he did for France at the World Cup, and he was fantastic for France at the World Cup.

Why do you have to be like this? Why can't you just discuss something normally without making everything pedantic?

Yes he absolutely did. For France he sat deep with Kante in a midfield two. He played further forward for United under Mourinho.

Was it not the same position then?

Pogba wasn’t fantastic at the world cup, to be honest. He played well, but he was no better than he’s been at times for us. In fact, he’d played better games for us. The narrative over Pogba at the world cup was due to it being a small sample size, but on the biggest stage, and used as a stick to beat Mourinho with - it wasn’t really comparable because we play far more games in a league season and Pogba has always had intermittent periods of good form since he joined. That said, Pogba did really benefit from the set up and quality in the France team that United didn’t have, especially in that deeper role.

It's obvious how playing in a 2 in a 4-2-3-1 is different to playing in a 3 in a 4-3-3. It's not obvious (to me at least) how playing in a 3 in a 4-3-3 is HUGELY different to playing in a midfield diamond.

So it's interesting how Pogba has thrived playing deeper than Mourinho played him, yet the problem with Mourinho was that he was playing him too deep?

posted on 19/2/19

I don’t think he thrived, because Pogba does his best work in the final third and breaking from deep with the ball, which wasn’t really the case at the world cup. What we are seeing now is Pogba thriving and that’s down to playing further up the pitch with movement around him.

I don’t think you can really compare the world cup and two seasons Pogba had played at United under Mourinho. It was 6 games compared to 88.

I just think Mourinho played Pogba in the right position. IDK, clearly you disagree.

Yes but you have no idea what you are talking about, so your opinions can be put on a piece of bog roll prior to some good ar$e wiping.

Well it is clear that Pogba did down tools.

Mugged everyone off for half of this season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

No idea why people keep saying this. Doesn't this happen at every club? Didn't Liverpool fall of a cliff under Brenda and Woy towards the end? Even under KKKenny? Same as at City too under Mancini and Pelligrini.

This isn't specific to united. It's just part of the game now.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Because he did, and you're actually agreeing he did.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I am but I'm saying it happens at every other football club too, including your own numbnuts so it makes it all bit pointless really doesn't it?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
no because the article is about pogba.

wtf is wrong with you
