Diamond the way to go?

I think it depends on who we are playing against. It's definitely a good thing to have tactical flexibility though. Chelsea clearly didn't expect us to play a diamond.

The only time Mata should be in the side is when we play the diamond though. He proved last night he can still play that role. On the right he leaves us exposed and he doesn't influence the game enough.

Also i think Smalling proved last night he's still one of if not our best defender. Just poor on the ball. Bailly isn't ahead of him I don't think. Smalling has been out injured but seems to getting back into the team.

Putting Rashford out wide takes away a lot of his goal threat.

I don’t think it’s something we’ll use regularly. But it’s clearly a system that is working for certain games.

I think Ole will gamble on this formation for the games against Liverpool and PSG.

Hopefully have both of not one of Martial/Lingard back for the PSG game.

However with Lukaku in attack against Liverpool, it could be like playing with 10 men again against Liverpool. I still feel we wil get something out of this game.

Martial's best position long term could be on the left of a front two, where he can drift towards the left like Henry used to.

Rashford is also better in a front two and likes to strike across the ball so he'd suit being on the right of the two.

I would love to see these two get a proper run of games up top together as opposed to making Martial play on the left where his amaizing finishing skills are wasted.

Lingard played more like a CF/ False 9 than an AM. Certainly not a diamond.

As much as I was criticising Lukaku, each time he had the ball, you could see they had 3 on him and they couldn't get the ball off him due to his sheer size and strength.

However, Sanchez in 5 minutes made more of an impact, in closing down, running, making an effort to support the team.

Sanchez definitely needs to be ahead of Lukaku in the pecking order. If we're playing with pace, we need to utilise Sanchez.

No, this formation makes us very vulnerable down the flanks. If we played a better team on Monday we would have conceded a lot of chances, maybe a goal.

433 is still the way to go for me, we can start playing it against the big teams once we make more signings.

Problem is Sanchez is arguably worse than Lukaku with the football.

Sanchez only slightly offers more than what Lukaku does, but on a more pacey way. Which is why if i had to pick one of the two to be in the team as replacement then it'd be Sanchez.

He does the closing down better than Lukaku, but what we really need him for, he is still failing at.

Lukaku is just too clumsy too often. And when things don't pay off it frustrates me when he flaps his arms in despair, because more often than not, it's him who is at fault.
