"I'm sure Gerrard's apology will be along soon".

Then various folk from Celtic apologising to Kris Boyd, no doubt.

already has spoken with him he and Clarke said they had a beer after the game in Gerrards office and spoke about it.

Depsite all the nonsense in the news about them both they are actually decent pals, and have been for a while.

think he said clarke never mentioned it... which is weird given how emotional he was

Fair play to King on that. Something that should happen more often by everyone.

As much as people say statements mean nothing, I do think that was a strongly worded statement and can only have a positive outcome

"We will do all we can to eradicate bigotry and sectarianism"

its a good statement and the sentiment is certainly right.

that said, i'm with nnh, some of the daft actions taken by rangers - photoshoots with flute bands etc don't exactly suggest they are all doing all they can

good statement nonetheless

That's the first sensible statement I've read from 'the Rangers Football Club'.
I don't believe for a minute that everyone there abhors sectarianism but the statement should be applauded.

Clarke was out of order though when he didn't mention the abuse Boyd got last week.

Saw some bloggers during the week trying to say that OB isn't sectarian. Same ' dictionary definition' argument curly used to use on here. It's nonense though....on the west of Scotland it's 100% sectarian.

I'm surprised Dave King didn't finish the statement announcing the date of their next sash bash with Linfield with a flucking flute band playing on the pitch at half time

Cheer up Steve Clarke

Fxck you Dave King.

Hullo Hullo!

That's the best statement Dave King has issued to date.
He is to be applauded for it.

Now we only have to get the Dads, brothers and uncles of OF fans to stop signing this absolute nonsense, to stop yet another generation signing songs they don't know the meaning of.

Wish these clowns would grow up.

It is weird that Clarke doesn't seem to care about the abuse his club captain received but happy to talk about hypothetical abuse to his assistant manager.

You don't need to make up a hypothetical alternative scenario when a real one happened a few days previously.

I personally am happy at how rangers have dealt with this and would be good to see others follow suit

I think it's quite easy to see what he was getting at by mentioning the colour of his assistant's skin.

We wouldn't tolerate thousands calling him a black b@stard so why is it fine for him to sit and be called a Feni@n one.

Not too difficult to see why he brought that up.

I love getting called a feni@n or a t@rrier.

It means you're getting under their skin

The bold Boyd can speak for himself, and he did do no need for his manager to add anything. SG wades in and continues to raise his profile as an inexperienced rookie

Anyone remember that video of the Celtic fan in Polmont talking about the sectarian divide...

Not all my fellow Celtic Fans will admit this but I will happily, you can argue a lot of the Songs Celtic sing a technically not sectarian, and tbh you would probably win a court case on that, but lets be honest you can call them romantic ballads etc... but we know fine why we sing them and in that it makes them for me sectarian.

The one Rangers should really try an cut out is the Billy Boys, ffs Billy Fullerton was a paid up member of the N@zi Party and KKK ffswhy the fook would you idolise him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I can't open the statement link, work filter, but from some comments it seems genuine and we need more of it.

I'd love it if Celtic really hammered the GB or whomever, they can sing normal Irish songs, there are fkn loads of them that aren't party tunes and get folk bouncing. The GIRFUY of moral high horseyness is the way to go, start the "we sing less bigoty songs than you ya cants" competition.

As the foxy Mrs Obama said "when they go low, we go high".

See when i was growing up, i was one of 3 catholic teenage boys in Brigton. Myself and one other hung about with the Brigton Derry boys so we were always sound from any real bother, they even backed us up when any outside Rangers fans piped up at us wearing a Celtic trackie or anything like that.

It's genuinely all about education and integrating boys at an earlier age. The divide in schools does not help one iota.

See to be fair to the GB, rebel songs have been sung at Celtic park for over 70 years and were a lot worse well before they came along.

It's too easy for a few people to pin the blame on them for all our troubles as a support.
