Very highly rated, and works well with Emery. Tbh it isn't a role that I have taken much notice of, and as such is hard to judge.
I think it is probably because Sven is a scout not a TD that Raul had doubts over him? Again, not knowing the ins and outs of the role I don't know if Sven would have been a credible candidate.
Yeah, from what I've gleaned the TD selects targets and is in charge of buying/selling them. But I thought the latter was what Raul was here for? Our lack of clarity is concerning me tbh.
I liked Sven - Torreira, Guendouzi and Mavropanos look like great prospects. It's a shame he's left.
Monchi is a highly rated TD. He will go for players who fit the playing style of the club. He got Sevilla and Roma good quality players.
The problem he will have at Arsenal or any other english club is that foreign clubs will add 30m to their players when dealing with the english clubs.
Everything I've read about him points to an individual who's cultivated a reputation for buying low and selling at a sizeable profit.
A perfect match for Kroenke's bottom line, but the farthest thing from any hopes for silverware and progress.
It's like we went to bed and woke up in 2006.

Roma spent big this summer (relative to Serie A). Kluivert, Pastore and Nzonzi all expensive, and the latter 2 with little selling on value, so not sure if this is a fair label to put on him. Of course they made a fair bit on Allison.
Monchi was absolutely fantastic for Sevilla. He was handed the DoF role when they were in Division 2 and oversaw arguably the most glorious era in the club's history.
He revamped the entire youth and scouting systems, both of which have made the club huge amounts of money, while overseeing 2 Spanish Cup titles and 5 UEFA Cup/Europa Leagues and qualification for Europe 12 times in 13 years.
For context, that's over half the top class honours the club has won in its entire history, despite their always having been one of the historic clubs of Spanish footy.
I don't really think he's been at Roma long enough to draw many clear conclusions regarding his time there. Hard to know exactly how much of a role he played, but the sale of Salah as soon as he moved in looks like a big mistake in hindsight, despite it seeming to be good business at the time.
Fact he's worked well with Emery in the past and would slot into a Spanish-speaking structure are clear pluses.
His track record for making club owners juicy profits on players brought in through the youth system and low-cost transfers might be a bit of a concern if that's what the club find most appealing about him.

The reputation's been earned over a much longer timeframe though, and by no means implies that every signing is going to fit the same pattern. They've also signed quite a few promising youngsters in this time which may well reap rewards after not too long.
Regardless of which, regarding the two you mentioned, they sold the similarly-aged Nainggolan and Strootman for roughly the same money they paid for those two. They also made the third biggest transfer profit in Serie A this season, and are actually 18th in the overall table in terms of net spend.
Easier to view Mislintat in a favourable light purely because his job was more or less to point at a player and go "quality".
If he was a technical director at Dortmund being considered for the job here, we'd all be talking about how, yes, he did sign the likes of Aubameyang, Dembele and Kagawa but he also sold them all.
Monchi's greatest achievement is trophies. What he was able to do for Sevilla is create an environment of success through numerous sales and cycles. One needs to look no further than Monaco to see how challenging that can be.
Ideally we should have him onboard before the end of the season, in order to get our targets lined up before the window opens.
Knowing us though we’ll probably spend most of the window wondering when this appointment will be announced.
It was always between Overmars and Monchi. I suppose Monchi's past experience with Emery swung it for him. Both were incredibly highly thought off so its all good. Monchi was favourite to be Mourinho's boss at Man Utd so obviously has a super reputation within the game.
Has there been an actual announcement made on this?
