we need a leader at the back, as good as Toby and Vertonhen are they are not organisers or leaders.

Toby when he first came had a VVD type impact, was a lot more vocal and was a great leader transforming our defence. But now our defence lacks significant organisation and solidity.

I am still keen to see Dier given a role there or at least come back into a DM role where he doesn't venture off thinking he's Iniesta.

Plays like John Stones did a few years ago. Needs to learn when to just put his foot through it and clear it. He & Lloris play us into trouble far too often.... Good young player but if Spurs think he & Sanchez are good enough to compensate for losing Toby..... they are kidding themselves

Same thing applies to Winks/ Sissoko replacing Dembele/ Dier (when he was good) our "toxic twins" replacing Walker and Lamela replacing Eriksen..... Lots to do this summer.... or we will do nothing again and maybe finish 4th again.... who knows ?

Winks he been exceptional. Far more progressive than Dier in that position

Toby and Verts are just as culpable as Foyth for any bad defending. Toby especially is well past his best now.

Winks has been good but I think he needs to play next to a proper DM.

Agreed, Winks is OK and has had some decent games, but not sure long term he is good enough. He certainly does not protect the defence that well.

Sissoko is a squad player... Nothing more. He's only playing as we have no other options. Not saying he's terrible but facts are facts.. he's incredibly limited as a footballer

Sissoko isnt a DM is he. He's a box to box midfielder who cant control or kick the ball.

Agree about Winks, why did Poch take him off ? Once he went Saturday we looks a mess, no midfield at all.

Agree with all of this.... Winks has had a breakout season.... great player. I can't even describe Sissoko as a "box to box" midfielder as he's average defensively and at the other end has no technical ability and is a headless chicken in front of goal. The stats back that up..... 1 goal and 3 assists in 3 years. He's basically OK running in straight lines, passing it sideways and filling up space in the middle 3rd of the field... a proper CM he is not

Not denying that... Just saying he's limited as a footballer. Pointing out he's had better games than the likes of Eriksen , Dele, Dier who have all been incredibly inconsistent this year doesn't make him the answer... Especially if we ever have any ambition to be anything more than top 4 also rans & cup "flakes"
