We do need to spread our net wider to find quality players at a decent price. Last season Wolves succeeded mainly by bringing in Portuguese players. This season Norwich seem to be prospering from German imports.
Look at the relatively few English sounding names for Premier League clubs, sometimes only around 4 British players on the pitch. We have been handicapped by our parochialism over the last decade.
Brentford use a computer programme developed for baseball which looks at the merits of out of contract players. Anyone can buy it. However the more that buy it the greater the demand for the bargain players so they are no longer bargains.

In did too but I think Desi is correct. Our scouts have failed abjectly to find, even reasonable talent from abroad.
We couldn't scout foreign players when Nigel was in charge because the scout had to get up early and do the newspapers.
I would have liked feedback opinion on our Scots, Welsh and Irish signings but the "overseas" bit seems to have put people off
