Has the goalkeeper situation been fully explained?

Could sort of accept the "Ruddy needs game time ahead of the cup" argument, although I'm not sure I agreed with it. Also I would have accepted the fact that Patricio hasn't been at his best recently so give Ruddy a chance.

Neither of those arguments make sense when Rui wasn't even on the bench.

Has he got an injury we haven't been told about? Or has something else occurred?

I think he was just given a rest Wulfrunn. As were Doherty, Jonny, Neves & Moutinho. Good chance to give Norris a feel of the big match day experience.

Nuno was a back up keeper for many years, I think he knows what he's doing here.

The difference is Doherty, Jonny, Neves & Moutinho were all on the bench, Rui wasn't

Yeah thought it was strange he was out of the line up completely

Sounds like Traore had a pretty good game at wing back, be interesting to see if he can he taught to defend well.

Saiss getting heaps of praise and not surprised really as he loves a physical battle.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Saiss played well, but he wasn’t better than Vinagre, Traore or Jota really and Dendoncker did just as good a job in that area. Saiss is such a cult figure though that people just give him MOTM just because he played, regardless of how he performs. Particularly on MolMix. It puts me off sometimes.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Thing about Saiss recently is that when he gets in to his groove he's our most reliable player. Stats (courtesy of Tim Spiers):

Romain Saiss today

90% pass accuracy (best on pitch)
11 headers won (most on pitch)
10 clearances (most on pitch)

He does the dirty stuff well, defends and looks after the ball to maintain possession which allows the more creative players to perform. He plays a very important role. Not as eye catching as many of our players but there's no denying that he played very well on Saturday. MOTM? not quite for me, but close.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Have said from day one he is very consistent and does the mucky stuff well and for me he would have been one of our top five or so key players in our promotion year and without him Neves would not have been as effective.

He also committed a lot of silly fouls. He must have given away three or four needless ones on Saturday, all in positions where Cardiff could put the ball in the box. That was the only way they were going to score.

That's his biggest weakness, he does have a habit late in games of trying to bully and just giving away needless fouls around the box

Wasn't just late in the game. There was a spell in the first half when we repeatedly gave away free kicks. Think it was a round the time Bennett should have been sent off.

Well, welcome back to the thread boys, I thought you had all moved to molminx or some other rubbish forum. Another few hours of no comments and I would have had to play my Mick card

With regard to keeper situation. If what Nuno said was true and I have no reason to believe otherwise) he put Ruddy in goal to get him up to speed for the forthcoming cup game. So in a cup game Ruddy's number 2 is Norris and if Ruddy had taken a knock, Norris would have got a bit of game time.
No conspiracy theories here

New IFAB RULES

1. Accidental handball goal won't stand
Goals scored which have hit a player's hand, deliberate or not, will no longer stand.

2. No rebounds from penalties
One of the changes Gallagher believes will have a big bearing on how we look at football is play stopping for a restart if a penalty is saved or hits the post.

This means players will no longer line up on the edge of the area or attempt a rebound.

3. Substituted players can leave the field anywhere
To stop time-wasting, when a player is taken off they will no longer have to leave the field at the halfway line and can leave the pitch at the nearest point.

4. No attacking players in the wall
This rule prohibits attacking players standing in the wall when a free-kick is being taken, a tactic increasingly employed in recent years.

5. Coaches will receive cards
Currently, coaches only receive verbal warnings for misconduct, but the change will see them receiving yellows and reds as players do.

Who are these feckin idiots, seem set on ruining the beautiful game.
