"Interestingly though, you talk about chemistry between players, I think Gray and Chilwell have had their best games when played together on the left. Their short, quick one touch passing has been impressive and it’s in these moments, coupled with his ability to overlap with the wide forward when we’ve seen Chilwell look very promising. "

A lot of that came from playing for the England U21's, a long time before Puel discovered them.

KLf you want to hear how petty you and Mersey sound

When was the last time LCFC had a England first choice left back then?
World class you say who said that just the best English left back in the country according to Southgate.
So bang average then that Man city want him as their first choice left back and pay a shed load of cash.
I know you are not thick KTF but you are being childing and argumentative if you don't know what i meant about ovelapping runs outside Chilwell which happens every game excecpt the last one.
And WTF are you still going on about Puel for TB have you not noticed he has gone?

England first choice, only in Nev’s World

That’s why he’d go to Man City, so he could become a first team player, even subs at the ‘Big’ Clubs get into the England team.

Being first choice for England is great, but it doesn't automatically equate to being first choice for Man City.

England get the choice of every left back who is English.

Man City get the choice of every left back full stop.

TB not in my world Southgates
Dung Man city need to up there English player numbers but i hope they don't come in for our England left back

Come on Nev. Steve Guppy was England’s first choice left winger at one point 😉

Nev, I think you may have a very specific definition of the word petty that is beyond me.

And no, I still don’t know what you mean Nev about overlapping. But I like to think myself open-minded; if you feel the urge to explain how in ‘every game except he last one” Chilwell - as the overlapping defender in a 4231, should have players ‘overlapping’ him, I’d be happy to proven wrong or try to recognise what I’ve misunderstood.

Unless you don’t actually mean ‘overlapping’

Mersey, I’m not sure I necessarily agree about Chilwell’s best games being as a result of Gray on the left but admittedly, I haven’t tracked it so may be wrong. I think he is just naturally progressing and, at he start of the season prior to Maddison’s confidence and performances taking a dent, always felt they linked up well. I actually think Gray often just gets in the way a lot of the time to be honest - his positioning and intelligence really hasn’t improved at all (or a very limited amount) since coming here IMO. Barnes shows more promise being able to cut inside to provide links with Vardy but also link up with an ‘overlapping’ defensive wide player.

I think we may get more success having Chilwell start further back than a 343, so they don’t occupy the same space - but that is my general view regarding a 4231 and 343. I’d prefer my additional defensive support coming from a defensive Cm in a 4231 than additionally CB in a 343 - I think we have the personnel to make the former more successful naturally with the right tactics and coaching and can include more of the prospective talent we have in this formation where I feel something would have to give in a 343 particularly if we brought more attacking quality (part of my thinking about this, to be fair to our previous manager, is down to some of the positives of Puel’s time here)

How dare you disagree with me KTF1. Stop being so petty!

Definatly being petty won't concur about chiwell being an England first choice and just pretending to not understand what i mean about on the overlap or runners everyone else gets you do too i am sure

Are you talking about Chilwell defending or attacking Nev?

If it's attacking then you seem to be saying the same as I did, Barnes plays so wide it blunts Chilwell going forwards and Chilwell being so left footed he can't come inside.

Not ‘concurring’ or agreeing with you Nev doesn’t equate to pettiness. Calling people petty for not agreeing with you is simply passive-aggressive.

And I haven’t seen a single comment ‘concur’ with your comments about Chilwell being overlapped.

Trueblue, Nev seems to be suggesting that no one is supporting Chilwell as opposed to the support hindering his runs but I think, again he may correct me with an explanation, was under some sort of impression an overlapping fullback is supported by being overlapped as opposed to the three behind Bardy providing movement and invention.

And by Bardy, I of course mean that Shakespeare has returned and is playing up front.
