The bronn bit could be a worse time to freeze the stream, surrounded by naked chicks. I think your streaming box knows your habits too well and did it deliberately

Decent episode, should have watched a recap though as there's so much I'd forgotten. Took me a minute to remember that Jaime was the one who crippled Bran

My stream actually froze at the start of that Bronn scene, I had the same look as that dragon watching Jon

watched a 20 min recap on Youtube of all 7 seasons before I watched it - did make a lot of difference actually.

Pretty underwhelming first episode after all that hype.

Gonna binge watch it once the season ends.

I rewatched the 8 episodes that Den of Geek recommended before season 8 came out.

https://www.denofgeek.com/uk/tv/game-of-thrones/64330/game-of-thrones-8-essential-episodes-to-rewatch-before-season-8?fbclid=IwAR0WI6wB4qU_HVov_Eh5OPvtQsi7ZDd6X5e25WjGQIljXfeq0_4_CL0V3nI

I actually rewatched all 12 episodes that they recommend if you have time, was well worth it and put me fully up to speed with everything

And still time for people to watch them as well while these new episodes are coming out.

Thought it was a decent episode. Obviously the bigger battles are yet to come but with only six episodes there isn't going to be any filler.

*Spoilers ahead*

The only thing that bothered me was that why does Jon Snow not react with disgust when he realises that he's been sh@gging and is in love with his aunt ??

And that's his proper aunt. Not the wife of his blood uncle type of aunt. His real blood aunt.

You’d be stunned as well, thinking you be pulled a grade a++++ stunner, then finding out you are related. Would be like winning the PL and CL then being relegated to the conference and banned from Europe for 10 seasons for ‘irregularities’

Growing up as a spotty teenager I've dreamt about doing many aunts

Wonder how many real life incestual relationships GOT is responsible for ?

Might be the next big fad after all this transgender stuff they're trying to throw at us these days.

Incest in GoT's world barely qualifies as kinky

One little detail about Jon's character I really like is his slightly awkward manor whenever he's in sexually charged situations. It's very believable he's only been with two women, subtle but noticeable, credit to the actor

Rewatched the 9pm showing again last night on Sky Atlantic

Before this episode I would say that Bran was the most annoying of the characters but he really amused me this episode with his odd creepy stare at every character. also..

****Beginning of episode*******

Bran: We haven't got any time to lose!
(Spends rest of episode sat in courtyard waiting for Jamie)

The only real bad part of the episode was the parts with Euron Greyjoy. The character really has become a generic pirate bloke and his scene with Yara was pretty..meh.

Loved the Circe asking about the war elephants and when finding out they weren't going to be there she seemed to address the audience about being gutted they weren't there.

It disappointed me slightly but tbf that's completely on me. Getting sucked in by my own expectations, and having watched S1 to S7 in a binge after everyone else, I forgot GoT has always been a slow burn show, I shouldn't have expected the final series to be any different.

My one major gripe with it was a continuation of S7's lack of respect for time continuity (e.g. The Dragons getting from Dragonstone beyond the wall in a flash). In the early seasons it took an entire series for characters to ride between Winterfell & King's Landing, no problem for Jamie, arrives end of episode one - like he's riding a Pegasus or something

I was thinking that too even in this episode, Daenerys and Jon walk from winterfell to wherever the dragons were stashed, had a full blown conversation, hopped on and flew around the dragons, and in all this time you see Varys, Tyrion and Davos up on the bridge in the exact same position as the very start of the scene when they were initially looking down and talking about Daenerys and Jon who were right in front of them. Unless they were standing in the exact same position for what I would imagine was an hour or so in real time, it doesn’t really make sense

This also may be an unpopular opinion but this weeks show was probably one of the better episodes of the series.

Originally the thought of ANOTHER episode of building up to the white walkers arriving made me think that they were going to have a lot of dead time in the episode but it was very good.

I think there were a lot of hints about the crypts coming alive next episode due to the number of times people said "Go hide in the crypts, its the safest place to be.." That girl Davos sent to defend them is going to be busy.

Next week is likely to be a bloodbath with a few charachters dying (Grey Worm is the top of my list , he made plans for after the war to settle down with the woman he loves then gives her a goodbye kiss at the end of the episode

Also special mention to Tormund telling his story about killing a giant and then downing his drink as a way to impress Brienne of Tarth

I also thought it was great. Always enjoyed the politics/characters and subtle plot developments as much as the action and main story line

Pretty great episode but I agree I think next week will be a bloodbath - do they even know the Night King has a dragon of his own yet?

posted on 23/4/19

Yeah pretty much agree. This was a final goodbye for some of the regulars.

Agree with Grey Worm is going.

I reckon Davos will be another. They all can't survive the white walkers.

They have to lose the fight at Winterfell for the Night King to make it to Kings Landing.

posted on 23/4/19

Night king won’t be at winterfell. He’ll be marching south to kings landing to mess up cersies plan. Or that’s my guess. He hasn’t been shown this season and the whole bran “he’s coming after me” will fall fla on its face

posted on 23/4/19

Not a bad theory..the big battle at Winterfell is just a distraction.

Will definitely emphasise the strength of the WW

Next Episode shows a number of main characters being killed on the battlefield while cutting to Bran and Theon sat awkwardly in the clearing making idle chat

******

Grey worm impaled and bleeding out then cuts to theon and bran

Theon: sooo, the golden company arrived with their elephants yet?

Bran: They have arrived but lack of CGI budget means the elephants arent here...it was that or not show Ghost.

Theon: oh

(Cuts back to sam fighting the reanimated form of Sean Bean)
