I’ve never heard the argument “they didn’t want him that much” either.
———
Really? It’s pretty damn common at top football clubs that have the scouting network and resources to sign the vast majority of players in world football.

It’s why clubs have a certain valuation of players and why many can be priced out because they aren’t comitted to making sizeable outlays for certain players.

This was certainly the case with Pogba, who was tracked by all of the top clubs in Europe while at Juve but we were the only club that jumped in and met Juve’s valuation of the player.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Proof of the last bit?

Yup I thought not!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Isn't the fact that we paid £89 mill when others didn't, the proof.

You've posted comments that Barca were interested, along with many other clubs.

Barca have subsequently spent over £100 mill on Coutinho, so they do have money. They weren't prepared to pay £89 m for Pogba, but were prepared to pay £105 (ish) for Coutinho. Doesn't that suggest to you that they rated Coutinho higher than they did Pogba? That they didn't really want Pogba that much?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

It suggests that and any number of things if you’re honest. It wasn’t even in the same window! The fact that Pogbas brother said he wanted United and that Barca had tried to negotiate for Pogba says more.

It doesn’t matter what quotes are pulled out, their will always be an excuse. Pogba’s brothers quote for example has been dismissed because it was after the transfer.

The fact we were the only club that met Juve’s valuation is proof. I didn’t think that needed explaining.

There's plenty of quotes from people contradicting Pogba's brother that you've seemingly ignored.

You're dismissing other quotes then riling against others doing the same with the quotes you provide to support your opinion.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

So I haven't contradicted my self, it's Pogba's quote you have a problem with? I haven't ignored anything, unless there is something I've missed by a mistake.

Are you impartial in this debate or do you also think Barca didn't ant Pogba? If you are impartial then you should also acknowledge that two people have now used a speculative figure of 56m to prove Pogba wasn't wanted "that much"

That's just one example.

The quotes I provided supported my point that Barca and Juve were in negotiations. Leporte was pointed out as a potential presidential candidate so I provided more quotes from actual officials at Juve to prove negotiations happened.

That's it.

As for Pogba's brother, if you don't want to believe him that's fine but you literally have no reason not to. Out of all of the quotes provided, he's also the closest to Pogba.

Remember to be a little bit more impartial.

why would barca want pogba then? i get 50 million ish is what they deemed fair for someone who wasnt essential.
Basquets its superior holding midfielder,so signing a more creative midfielder seemed logical, even if it cost them way more. Not sure why people are confused.
Also, if Barca made a big enough bid he was going to Barca all day. Comparing Barca and Man U at that point is kinda crazy there was a massive gulf between the teams.
