Problem is we've already set a precedent. The owners argument, for any club, makes sense in theory but in reality it's not that relevant. The Glazers won't all of a sudden start putting the surplus from a more sensible wage bill into their pockets.

We do need to reverse the trend of paying silly wages though. DDG seemingly holding out (rightly I'd say as well based on performance) for Alexis type wages.
This is where a DoF may help in getting the balance right. There's always room for star players at United but I want to see some of our youth there as well in addition to some shrewd, below the radar, signings. Very much like the signing of Ole himself.
How many more will want that as well? That's the thing. What a terrible transfer he's been. I agree with the rest of your post.

I'd presume Pogba for starters will want more as well as the likes of Martial eventually.
It's really been a bit of a mess since the great man retired! I expected us to struggle a bit to begin with but not to this extent.
Yeah neither did I. It's been poor decision after poor decision from the board. It's why I've not got much faith we'll be back challenging at the top any time soon.
I think we should perhaps, initially, focus on making sure we're at least flat track bullies. That accounts for 28 games a season away from the top 6. Our record in the big games hasn't been that bad the last few seasons either to be fair but we do need consistency. That'll only come though, IMO, when our squad is balanced and can play the same way when someone comes in. To be fair we've done well the last few weeks with the tweaks for the injuries but that isn't sustainable long term.
I think 2 or 3 players and we could challenge at the top. Liverpool have shown it can be done. They have to be the right players though of course
We'll see, I guess. I think the squad is lacking in too many areas, and I don't think the recruitment at United is great so probably won't be fixed in one summer, and that makes things very difficult when you are having to keep up with this City side.
And as happy as I am with Ole, it still remains to be seen whether he's capable of managing the club to get to that level. It's not just about the quality either but changing the mentality and developing a team, it could take a while to do that.
Liverpool's development as a team has been established over a few years now as well. Yes they have made a few key signings that have allowed them to move up a level this season, but a lot of their squad have been playing under Klopp for quite a few years so it's a different situation, even if we are at a better starting point than Liverpool were when Klopp took over.

There will not be a better comment on this thread than that.
It was reported that a deal had been struck between Rabiot and Barca but then it went all quiet with news coming out a few weeks back that Barca are now unsure about signing him as they got in their first target. They're waiting to see if they can shift someone first.

If global warming exists and water temperatures get hotter over time then how come when I have a bath the water gets colder the longer I’m in it? Explain that with your science?

You can offer him a a huge signing on fee or a free trip to Disney Land, but he's signed for Barca, so it wont matter much.
